Evil Geniuses rose from the Lower Brackets to claim the championship title and the staggering 6.6 million dollars prize.
TI5 runners-up – Wild Card team CDEC – had a surprisingly impressive run, advancing into the Grand Finals without suffering a single defeat throughout the main event to take a 2.9 million-dollar prize.
LGD Gaming ended their course at TI5 after being swept by Evil Geniuses in the Lower Bracket finals. The iconic Chinese team take an admirable third place and $2,205,338 of the prize pool.
ViCi Gaming came in a commendable fourth place after being eliminated by LGD in the Lower Brackets. The Chinese powerhouse team will take home $1.5 million.
EHOME and Virtus.Pro ended their journey at TI5 on the fourth and, respectively, fifth day of the event. Virtus.Pro gave the CIS region much to be proud of when they eliminated Team Secret. EHOME and Virtus.Pro walk away with $1,194,558 each.
Both MVP.Phoenix and Team Secret grabbed $827,002 each, while Team Empire, Cloud 9, compLexity Gaming, Invictus Gaming received $220,534.
Newbee, Natus Vincere, Fnatic, and MVP.HOT6ix were all eliminated in the first day of the main event, during the ruthless best-of-one elimination series. The four teams were able to take home $55,113 each.

TI5 Vods – Main event, day 1 recap
It was a long, emotionally charged first day with the first two best-of-three Upper Bracket series, followed by the first four teams to be knocked out of the tournament in the do or die best-of-one elimination series.
LGD took the series versus Team Empire 2:1, while CDEC upset Cloud 9, 2:0, sending both Empire and C9 to the Lower Brackets.
The first survival of the fittest best-of-one series would see defending champions, Newbee, and MVP.Phoenix square off against each other. Newbee were eliminated, while the Koreans moved forward into the Lower Brackets.
Na’Vi and ViCi Gaming battled out in a thrilling match brimming with aggression, clutch plays and misplays. Na’Vi valiantly held their own for almost an hour, but in the end they were eliminated by Vici Gaming.
Virtus.Pro sent Fnatic home early and previous TI champions Invictus Gaming eliminated MVP.Hot6ix in a convincing manner.

The second day of The International 5 main event started off with the two remaining best-of-three series from the first round of the Upper Brackets. The spotlight was then shifted onto the Lower Brackets, where two more teams were knocked out of the competition.
Evil Geniuses swept through compLexity Gaming, 2:0. In a surprising turn of event, EHOME did the same against the TI5 favorites, Team Secret. Both compLexity and Team Secret were dropped to the Lower Brackets.
In dramatic confrontations, MVP.Phoenix and ViCi Gaming also swept through their opponents, 2:0, eliminating Team Empire and Cloud 9.

Ten teams were left standing at the start of the third day. Continuing with intense games and unexpected results, the third day started with two best-of-three elimination series followed by two Upper Bracket series.
After nonstop action and roller-coaster swings, Virtus.Pro brought an end to compLexity Gaming’s incredible run at TI5, 2:1, while Team Secret struggled in their first game, but came back convincingly to best Invictus Gaming and eliminate them.
In a surprising twist of fate with aggressive plays and flawless execution, Wild Card winners CDEC took their series against LGD, 2:0. Evil Geniuses bested EHOME, 2:1, after drafting Techies. LGD and EHOME were dropped to the Lower Brackets.

Day four consisted of all Lower Bracket series, biding farewell to three more teams as MVP.Phoenix, Team Secret and EHOME ended up being eliminated.
ViCi Gaming’s Rubick for Xu “fy” Linsen swept through MVP.Phoenix, 2:0, in some of the Chinese team’s best performances at the event. In a remarkable series, Virtus.Pro eliminated TI5 favorites Team Secret, 2:1, while ViCi Gaming capitalized on their winning momentum to sweep through EHOME, 2:0, in their second series of the day.

With only three teams out 16 still in contention for the title, the fifth day of TI5 would see two more dreams shattered. The day kicked off with a Lower Bracket series, followed by the Upper Bracket finals. The fifth day was wrapped up by the spectacular TI5 All Star Match.
Virtus.Pro’s fantasticly well drafted and well played TI5 run was halted when LGD managed to best them, 2:0, and then upset ViCi Gaming, 2:1, later in the evening. The Wild Card team, CDEC, surprisingly advanced into the Grand Finals after defeating Evil Geniuses and sending them to the Lower Brackets.

The last day of The International 5 kicked off with the Lower Bracket finals between North American favorites, Evil Geniuses, and the iconic Chinese team, LGD. EG managed to sweep through xiao8&co. and secured their place in the Grand Finals.
The Grand Finals were remarkable in every way. Evil Geniuses bested CDEC, 3:1, thus becoming the first North American team that has ever won The International.
