ESL have announced the schedule, brackets and the names of the 12 participating teams for the upcoming ESL One New York Americas Main Qualifiers. Eight invited teams and four qualified teams will battle it out in the Main Qualifiers starting September 12th. Only one team will prevail to earn a place at ESL One New York, scheduled to take place between October 3-4, at the Madison Square Garden, in New York.
The ESL One New York Americas Main Qualifiers will begin on September 12th and conclude on September 17th with a best-of-five grand finals to determine the sole winner that will advance to compete at the ESL One New York for the $250,000 base prize pool.
The eight invited teams have been split into two invite levels to determine the seeding bracket. The Level 1 invites include Fire, Digital Chaos, compLexity and High Council of Wizards & Priests. The Level 2 invites include Boreal Esports, Union Gaming, ROOT Gaming and Pain Gaming.
The four teams that qualified include: Bathroom Buddies (BRB), Cloud9 (played in the qualifiers as DarkHorse before getting picked up by Cloud 9), No Broodmama and Team Imagine.

- Team Imagine (qualified) – formerly Team Leviathan, the North American team was picked up earlier in August by the LOL organization.
- Union Gaming -the Peruvian team with two new members and original founding member Benjamin “Benjaz” Lanao Barrios
- BRB (qualified)
- No Broodmama (qualified)
- ROOT Gaming – the new roster including Niklas “Wagamama” Högström, and most recent line-up member Jaron “monkeys-forever” Clinton
- Pain Gaming– the Brazilian team featuring three new members after the reshuffle following their failure to qualify for TI5.
- Cloud9 (qualified) -the reformed, NA based team featuring Theeban “1437” Siva, Arif “MSS” Anwar, Braxton “Brax” Paulson, Ravi “Ritsu” Kodippili, SVG
Boreal Esports – the Canadian team that has had a strong presence in the NA region. They participated in the TI5 North American Open Qualifiers and came in second place in the Dota 2 Canada Cup Season 5.

- Fire – the recreated FireDota team with founding members Brian “FLUFFNSTUFF” Lee and Jio “Jeyo” Madayag
- Digital Chaos – the newly formed team featuring Kurtis “Aui” Ling, Sam “BuLba” Sosale, Tyler “TC” Cook, Yawar “YawaR” Hassan, Dat “Biryu” Quoc Ha.
- compLexity – after being eliminated on the third day of the main event of T15 by Virtus.Pro, taking 11th place, David “MoonMeander” Tan and Tal “Fly” Aizik parted ways with the team and were replaced by Michael “mjw” Nguyen and Peter “Waytosexy” Nguyen.
- High Council of Wizards & Priests – created in the post-TI5 shuffle including Ioannis “Fogged” Loucas, Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho, Scott “chad/bLeek” Jensen, Mason “mason” Venne and Aaron “Clairvoyance” Kim.

- Single elimination format
- Teams are seeded into the bracket based on their invite level
- Qualified teams & Level 2 invites start in Round 1
- Level 1 invites teams start in Round 2
- Grand Finals will be best-of-five series

This year will feature a starting prize-pool of $250,000, almost double the final amount of last year’s event.
The event will take place again at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, on October 3rd and 4th.

One recurring complaint the organization received from the community was that the cost of admission was too high. ESL One announced that they would reduce the cost and provide refund for those who have already purchased tickets.
Price changes
The price changes are as follows:
- Day ticket: $59 reduced to $39 ($20 refund)
- Weekend ticket: $89 reduced to $59 ($30 refund)
- Premium ticket: $269 reduced to $169 ($100 refund)
Refund process
Refunds will only be given at the event itself, on October 3rd and 4th.
In order to claim any refunds, ticket holders who purchased their tickets before August 4th will need to visit the ESL Shop at the Madison Square Garden Theater with proof of purchase and ID.

Tickets can be purchased online through ESL website, at Ticket Master or at the Madison Square Garden Box Office.
