The first day of DotaPit LAN finals got underway today, witnessing Team Empire eliminated by Evil Geniuses. Earlier Virtus.Pro’s suffered from an early departure when they were wiped through by compLexity Gaming and OG were bested by MVP.Phoenix 1:2. In a completely shocking turn of events, Shanghai Champions – Team Secret were eliminated by Na’Vi.
The last series of the day began after midnight and ended in the wee hours of the early morning. After an incredibly long day of at least 16 hours of Dota 2 games, the day ended with Team Empire eliminated in another intense and hair raising series.
Team Empire gave Evil Geniuses a run for their money as they took the first game and gave an incredibly close deciding third game. Despite the CIS team being down to two official and consistent players, they showed resilience and skill.
DotaPit LAN elimination: Quarterfinals
Evil Geniuses vs Team Empire
The first game of the series was a back and forth roller coaster of both leads and emotions as Team Empire came out strong. Despite losing their great start as Syed Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan’s Invoker started to come online, the CIS team was able to hold out long enough to become more powerful and minimize EG’s growing strength. Rostislav “fn” Lozovo’s juggernaut proved to be crucial for Team Empire as he topped the net-worth charts. By the end it was Team Empire that would steal the lead back and head towards victory.
The second match saw Peter “PPD” Dager adjust to their opponents and draft accordingly, including a broodmother in the mix for Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora. The hero ended up being an incredibly impactful choice for the team, as he dominated the game. In 28 minutes the North American giants had easily taken the second victory and forced a deciding third game.
The last game of the series Evil Geniuses started out stronger, taking the lead and advantage early. Around mid game, Team Empire started to close the gap as they capitalized on some openings and gain favorable pick offs and fights. However, a poorly taken team fight around minute 24 would leave Team Empire with little left and Evil Geniuses were able to regain their momentum and lead until the end.
DotaPit LAN results: Team Empire 1:2 EG. Evil Geniuses will continue to the semi finals for another best-of-three elimination series, leaving Team Empire eliminated.

(126 comments)Despite losing in the first game, they drafted the same heroes again for Arteezy and Suma1l in the second game and won. Any inputs?
