The International 4 champions, Newbee, had been denied their chance for a slot in the Shanghai Major Qualifiers yesterday, when LGD Gaming bested them, 2:1, in the first round of the playoffs. They were then dropped to the Lower Brackets where they faced CDEC.A, the new youth team under the CDEC brand.
The star-studded team was able to teach the new players a few lessons, taking the advantage, 2:1, and progressing further into the playoffs.
Their second chance came when they were set to face another youth team, IG.Vitality, in the Lower Bracket finals. IG.Vitality were defeated by LGD Gaming, 2:0, in yesterday’s Upper Bracket finals.
During the first match of the series, Newbee had most of the advantage but really soared to victory around minute 26, ending the game only about 10 minutes later. It was a relatively quiet game with very few deaths and lots of farming. Newbee were able to push ahead quicker and, with a perfect game by Chen “Hao” Zhihao on Weaver, the team grabbed the win.
The second game lasted about the same amount of time but was much more decisive in Newbee’s favor and with many more kills on the scoreboard. On the back of Hao’s Gyrocopter (19-1-12) and his 8K gold lead over IG.Vitality, Newbee easily took the second victory and the final qualifying spot for the Chinese region.

Newbee
Team Newbee erupted onto the Dota 2 scene in 2014, having emerged from nowhere to claim the most sought after glory of being crowned the Champions of The International. The Chinese “Dream Team 2″ shocked the world with their victory and then disappeared from the scene.
After placing 13th at TI5, Chen “Hao” Zhihao returned to the team, while Wang “Rabbit” Zhang and Lin “June” Shiyang departed.
Wong “ChuaN” Hock transferred to Newbee in time for the Shanghai Major.
The team then had an equally lackluster performance for the Frankfurt Major, taking 15th place and forfeited their spot in WCA 2015 as the event was underway.
This was the second time in less than a month that Newbee forfeit their attendance at an event. The first was at Game Show Global eSports Cup on November 27th, at the last minute. Their late withdrawal then also caused a decrease in participating teams for the event, having left no time for organizers to secure a replacement.

LGD Gaming
The team came in third at The International 5, but was still subject to significant roster changes following the event, as EHOME’s captain, Fan “rOtk” Bai, and player Liang “DDC” Faming have both joined LGD Gaming, while Zhang “xiao8” Ning and Yao “Yao” Zhengzheng have stepped back from the active roster.
They have had lackluster performances since, taking seventh at MLG World Finals and eighth at the Frankfurt Major.
LGD Gaming most recently defeated Newbee.Young, 2:1, to become one of twelve teams to compete in the StarLadder iLeague finals, in Minsk, Belarus, in January and second place at WCA 2015.
