ViCi Gaming are the VP Game Pro League champions, after outplaying LGD, 3-1. Arch-rival Chinese teams VG and LGD met head-on in a LAN grand finals best-of-five showdown, in Hangzhou, China. The two teams had faced each other in the league’s Upper Brackets on April 16, when VG took a surprising 0-2 loss and fell to the Lower Brackets.
Both teams were invited directly to the play-off stage of VP Game Pro League. LGD went through to the finals undefeated, while ViCi Gaming took out E-Home in the first round and IG in the Upper Bracket semifinals, before losing to LGD in the Upper Bracket finals. In the Lower Bracket finals, VG eliminated TongFu in a 2-0 sweep and grabbed themselves another chance at the final victory. VG receive cyber-punches over LGD loss
ViCi Gaming’s 0-2 loss to LGD, in April 16th’s VP Game Pro League Upper Bracket match, got supporters worked up to an aggressive extent. The Chinese organization claims to have received numerous death threats and ISIS videos. The unbridled rage gone over the edge could have been a reaction to lost bets. VoDs are available here.
VP Game Pro League
Sixteen all-Chinese teams (eight of which were invited directly to the playoffs, while the other eight have played the qualifiers) have been invited to participate in either the first phase qualifiers of the VP Game Pro League, or the second phase double elimination brackets. The LAN grand finals took place in Hangzhou, China, at the Tahara Cineplex, on April 19, featuring a $24,500 total prize pool, with a first place prize of approximately $13,000.
