Team Archon announced yesterday they were expanding their reach by adding a Dota 2 division and signing TI5 Americas wild card contenders, NARv2. Until now, the company had focused solely on Hearthstone, making Dota 2 their second represented game.
Archon’s team founder Jason “Amaz” Chan stated:
I’m very excited to see NARv2 become a part of Team Archon. I’ve always been careful on selecting new teams for Archon: they have to be highly skilled and I believe these guys have the potential for success. They will be playing in the TI5 Wildcard Qualifier for a spot in the playoffs, and I will be cheering them on to advance and make magic happen. You, the viewers, should cheer for your new Dota 2 Archon team as well!
The team is currently in Florida at bootcamp training for their upcoming TI5 wild card series. NAR claimed the opportunity after besting the qualifiers’ favorites, Mousesports, 2:1, in the Lower Bracket finals. North American Rejects moved on to the Grand Finals to face compLexity but were defeated 2:0, thus receiving the Wild Card spot.
North American Rejects
North American Rejects was originally created in April 2014 by Theeban “1437” Siva, Braxton “Brax” Paulson, Allan “Dismek” Garcia, Ioannis “Fogged” Loucas, Steven “Korok” Ashworth, and JingJun “Sneyking” Wu, in order to participate in The International 4 qualifiers.
The team won the regional qualifiers and were picked up by Natus Vincere on June 2, 2014, and renamed Na’Vi.US. After placing 15th at TI4, the team pushed on for a few months longer before disbanding in December 2014.
Original members Korok and Fogged reformed the team on March 24, 2015 and the team received a TI5 qualifier invite from Valve. North American Rejects have recently won the Dota 2 Canada Cup Season 5 after defeating Boreal, 3:2.
The team also had been crowned the Canada Cup Season 5 Champions just days before the TI5 qualifiers after a grueling five game series with Canadian team Boreal 3:2.
The team has been directly invited to participate in the BTS Americas tournament currently underway.
