Team NP, compLexity, Team Freedom and Team Onyx are headed to the Kiev Major NA regional qualifier playoffs.
NA had the least amount of teams participating in the Kiev Major qualifiers. Only seven teams were competing – three had been directly invited and four teams qualified. The region had been lacking in stable teams to invite and the slot of the champions cup had been rescinded due to a shortage of teams to participate.
Team NP had a perfectly executed run through the group stage, not dropping a single match to their opponents. The NA team has been heavily favored for the event and will now be aiming to continue riding on the momentum right through to the end.
As a reward for their efforts, Team NP were allowed to choose their opponents moving forward. They went for Team Freedom who ended fourth with a 3:3 record.
compLexity Gaming had been thrust into the open qualifiers when Antonio “canceL” Mihai stepped down from active roster. He was then replaced by Eric “747” Dong.
Wheel Whreck had a difficult run, unable to pick up a single victory ending with a 0:9 record and destroyed hopes for an appearance at the Kiev Major.

Kiev Major Qualifiers format
The Kiev Major Qualifiers format is the same as it was for the Boston Major – which had been adjusted compared to previous Majors. This season, teams will be pitted against each other in a single group, instead of divided into two groups. Another significant change, teams will face each other in a best-of-one round robin. The top four teams in the group stage will advance to a best-of-three GSL-style playoffs bracket. Two teams from China and SEA, one team from NA, EU, SA and CIS will qualify for the Kiev Major. Thus, there will be two phases to the Kiev Major Qualifiers format: group stage and playoffs.
Kiev Major Qualifiers playoffs
- 1st place team chooses 3rd or 4th place team as an opponent
- 2nd place team competes against remaining team
- GSL bracket format
- Best-of-three series
- Two teams qualify for the Kiev Major
Sixteen teams will battle it out for a piece of the $3,000,000 prize pool.
Eight teams have been directly invited – OG, EG, Wings, Newbee, Digital Chaos, Ad Finem, Team Liquid and Team VG.J.
Eight teams will qualify – 2 from SEA and China, 1 from NA, SA, EU and CIS.
The Kiev Major is scheduled to take place between April 27-30th at the National Palace of Arts, in Kiev, Ukraine. National Palace of Arts is one of the main theater venues in Kiev, Ukraine. It was opened in 1970 with a seating capacity of almost 4,000 in the main concert hall – approximately the same size as Wang Theater where the Boston Major was held this last fall.
In the past, StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2 hosted CS:GO at the event successfully.
The event will be hosted by PGL and will be the last Major ore-TI7.
