Valve has revealed the Kiev Major slot details.
The final eight teams will be determined in the crucible of the Qualifiers. While China and SEA each retain two Qualifier slots as in the past, the European Qualifiers have been split into EU and CIS Qualifiers, and the Americas Qualifiers have similarly changed to NA and SA Qualifiers, with one tournament spot up for grabs in each eligible region.
With the addition of the two new regions, CIS and Europe will now need to split their usually allocated slots just as North America and South America will need to.
As of March 3, only 31 teams had registered from North America for the open qualifiers. As the region has four slots available for teams coming from the open qualifiers the odds are stacked FOR teams this time around.
South America will see a whopping eight teams advance from the open qualifiers into the regionals.
The most exciting part of the reveal? The direct and regional invites for the Kiev Major will be released soon – March 3rd at 16:00 CET.
