ESL One New York reduces ticket prices

Based on strong community feedback ESL has decided to reduce the prices of tickets for ESL One New York taking place October 3-4 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In addition to the price reductions, all current ticket holders will receive a refund for the difference in price.

For last year’s ESL One New York tournament many fans were disappointed with the event as a result of bad scheduling and little if any market research. The event was held mid-week and the tickets were expensive. Unsurprisingly, the venue was half-empty.

It seems that ESL One organizers have learned from the trials and tribulations of last year’s event and have made the necessary adjustments.

One recurring complaint the organization received from the community was that the cost of admission was too high. ESL One announced that they would reduce the cost and provide refund for those who have already purchased tickets.

As we now have a solid lineup of sponsors behind us, we also have more liberty to invest into the event, and the avenue we have chosen is to adjust ticket pricing. We want as many fans as possible to be able to make it and will therefore be drastically lowering tickets prices in addition to refunding the difference to those who have already bought tickets for the event.

Price changes

The price changes are as follows:

  • Day ticket: $59 reduced to $39 ($20 refund)
  • Weekend ticket: $89 reduced to $59 ($30 refund)
  • Premium ticket: $269 reduced to $169 ($100 refund)

    • Refund process

    Refunds will only be given at the event itself on October 3rd and 4th.

    In order to claim any refunds, ticket holders who purchased their tickets before August 4th will need to visit the ESL Shop at the Madison Square Garden Theater with proof of purchase and ID.

    Tickets can be purchased online through ESL website, at Ticket Master or at the Madison Square Garden Box Office.

    ESL One New York Superweek

    There have been the additions of some extra side events this year including opportunities during “New York Super Week” to:

    • Meet Your Heroes – Meet your favorite players and community personalities
    • Strategy Sessions – Sit down with the pros and learn their strategies, mindset and drafts
    • Play with the Pros – Opportunity to play with or against them
    • Dota 2 Shop – Dota 2 merchandise as well as the newest gaming hardware

    Details have yet to be disclosed. This year will feature a starting prize-pool of $250,000, almost double the final amount of last year’s event.

    Teams have not yet been announced although many will expect and are hopeful to see the reigning champions ViCi Gaming in attendance as well as ESL One Frankfurt champions, Team Secret.

    The event will take place again at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 3rd and 4th.
