DreamLeague Season 4 playoffs day 2 began earlier today. Eight teams competed in the DreamLeague Season 4 League Play, six teams – OG, Team Empire, 4CL, Alliance, Vega, MFF- qualified for the LAN playoffs at DreamHack Winter in Jönköping, Sweden, two teams – Vega Squadron and MFF- have already been eliminated. One more team fell short of making it through to the last day where the new DreamLeague Season 4 champion will be crowned.
The first day of DreamLeague Season 4 playoffs saw the elimination of Vega Squadron and Monkey Freedom Fighters.
Monkey Freedom Fighters were the first team to be eliminated, not coming as a big surprise to fans as the squad had technically disbanded earlier last month. The group consisting of WehSing “SingSing” Yuen, Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat, Ionuț “Ar1sE” Turtoi, Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho and Rene “Kebap” Warner still walked away with a cool $10,000 prize.

In a much more surprising turn of events Vega Squadron were eliminated by CIS counterparts, Team Empire. The ESL One New York championship team were expected to advance further, being one of the favorites of the event. In the first best-of-one round they dominated Team Empire, sending them to the lower brackets. However, as fate would have it, the two CIS teams clashed again in the lower brackets after Vega fell to 4CL 1:2. This time, Team Empire struck back and swept through Vega 2:0, sending them home early with a $12,000 parting gift.
DreamLeague Season 4 playoffs day 2 started with 4 Clovers & Lepricon taking on the Swedish home team, Alliance. 4CL swept through the home team with dominating performances by Per Anders Olsson “Pajkatt” Lille on Shadow Fiend and Wind Ranger. Henrik “AdmiralBulldog” Ahnberg’s signature heroes – Nature’s Prophet and Lone Druid weren’t enough to bring the Swedish team any victories in the series and they dropped to the lower brackets.
OG faced Team Empire for the second series of the day. The European squad continued to showcase their individual talent and team synergy, convincingly taking both games against the CIS team. Johan “BigDaddy” Sundstein had a flawless performance on Phantom Lancer in the first game, and Amer “Miracle-“ al-Barqaw had a turn to shine on Viper in the second game. Team Empire dropped to the lower brackets for another chance to battle their way to the finals.
In two very heavily one sided matches, the CIS team destroyed the Swedish team 2:0. The first match gave Team Empire a Tiny-Io combo and Airat “Silent” Gaziev a superb game on viper. The second match was over in a mere 17 minutes with a 28:7 score. With the loss, Alliance had been eliminated from the event, ending their run with a $15,000 prize.
OG and 4 Clovers were the last series of DreamLeague Season 4 playoffs day 2. Both teams featured an 8k MMR player – Martin “Saksa” Sazdov for 4CL and Miracle- on OG, setting the hype for high level encounters. The two European teams battled it out to take a direct route to the grand finals. In an overwhelming stomp, OG took the first game in 31 minutes with a score of 30:7. The second game had pretty much the same outcome thanks to the help of the Johan “BigDaddy” Sundstein’s meepo. The game was over in 25 minutes with a score of 22:6.
OG will advance directly to the Grand Finals. 4CL will face Team Empire in the Lower Bracket finals for one last chance to advance to the Grand Finals.
