Team Empire is the last Western team to be invited to the MarsTV Dota 2 League in Shanghai, China from June 3rd to June 7th. The news comes only one day after Team Empire withdrew from MLG Pro League citing visa issues. MLG Pro League and MarsTV Dota 2 League will take place at the same time, at the beginning of June.
The Russians will join Cloud 9, Team Secret and Na’Vi as the Western representatives for the Chinese based tournament.
We are proud to announce that @team_empire, Newbee and @CDECgaming will complete the list of teams for MDL. https://t.co/PVUVnJhTIb #Dota2

MarsTV made the announcement on their Facebook page:
The last team to complete the list is Team Empire. We are very excited to have them participate in our tournament, as this will be their first time in a Chinese tournament. They showed great results over the past few months, including a crushing 3-0 victory over one of China’s juggernauts, Vici Gaming.
The news comes just one day after it was announced that Team Empire would not be able to attend the MLG Pro League LAN finals in Austin, Texas, due to visa issues and would be replaced by Ninjas in Pyjamas. Team Empire was invited directly to the LAN finals that will hosted at X-Games, between June 5-7.

MarsTV Dota 2 League Western teams
Cloud 9 was the first of the Western teams to be invited to the event.
Team Secret‘s invite came on the heels of their back to back wins at Red Bull Battle Grounds, on May 10, and then at The Summit 3, on May 17.
Only five days ago, Na’Vi were invited to the tournament.
MarsTV Dota 2 League Chinese teams
MarsTV Dota 2 League was schedule to start on May 7, with eight Chinese teams – Newbee (Defending Champions), LGD Gaming, CDEC, E-HOME, HyperGloryTeam, Invictus Gaming, TongFu, and Vici Gaming, competing to be the four teams to advance to the main event.
However, due to scheduling conflicts, Invictus Gaming and Vici Gaming were not be able to compete in the league’s qualifiers, thus have been directly invited to the MarsTV Dota 2 League main event. They were replaced by Immortal Magneto and DK in the Chinese qualifiers.
LGD and E-Home have secured the first two spots in the league and have qualified for the MarsTV Dota 2 League main event in Shanghai. CDEC Gaming finished third, after a 2-1 victory over Newbee.
The last two spots for the Chinese teams were being held for the top two teams in the TI5 Chinese qualifiers. However, E-Home were the MarsTV Dota 2 League qualifiers runner-up team and were already participating in the main event.
We would also like to inform you that Newbee will take part in our competition despite placing fourth in our Chinese League. The reason for this is that EHOME, LGD and CDEC, our top 3 in the league, have either been directly invited or qualified through The International Chinese qualifiers. As a result, Newbee was given the last spot.
Participating Teams
MarsTV Dota 2 League
MarsTV announced the upcoming 2015 season of the MarsTV Dota 2 League. The tournament features a base prize-pool of 2 million RMB, approximately $322,000. This is significantly higher than last year’s prize pool of 150,000 RMB. In 2014, the MarsTV Dota 2 League’s winner was Newbee who went through the playoffs undefeated, 5:0, and bested LGD, 2:0, in the grand finals.
MarsTV Dota 2 League format
With Invictus Gaming and ViCi Gaming receiving direct invites, the MarsTV Dota 2 League main event will feature 10 teams, instead of 8, as it was originally announced. The format has been adjusted to accommodate the 10 teams. Instead of playing in a double-elimination bracket, the teams will be divided into two groups of five and compete in a Round Robin format. The teams that finish last in both groups will be eliminated from the competition, while the remaining eight teams – four from each group, will advance to the single elimination playoffs.
