The biggest Dota 2 championship of the year and largest esports event to date, The International 6 (TI6), will get underway today, August 8th, at the KeyArena, in Seattle. Sixteen of the best Dota 2 teams in the world will square off over the course of six days, until August 13th, for a chance to win the coveted Aegis of Champions trophy. The total TI6 prize pool has already passed the $20 million mark and over $8.8 million are set aside for the winning team.

We have six juicy series to look forward to today, so we should have plenty to talk about. Up first at 10:30 PDT (20:30 CEST) is OG vs. MVP.Phoenix, followed by Digital Chaos vs. Wings Gaming, at 13:30 PDT (22:30 CEST) – both in the Upper Brackets.
We’ll then move on to the gruesome Lower Brackets, where eight teams will square off in unforgiving best-of-one matches: TnC vs. VG.R (16:30 PDT/01:30 CEST), Team Secret vs. LGD (17:30 PDT/02:30 CEST), Fnatic vs. Escape Gaming (18:30 PDT/03:30 CEST), Na’Vi vs. Team Liquid (19:30 PDT/04:30 CEST). Four of those teams leave the competition today, walking away with 0.5% of the total prize pool, over $100,000.

(64 comments)@bakala – saw them, of course. Was expecting to see them during the Upper Bracket series, as well. They might’ve thought that they’d get another chance to focus on the UB teams, since they’re not going anywhere yet.
