The International 6 has been one of the most entertaining and riveting events in recent memory. Filled with epic comebacks, surprising twists, incredible stories of perseverance and dedication – the matches have brought us to the edge of our seats.
We got off to a phenomenal start with an opening ceremony featuring Lindsey Stirling. We’ve had a highly entertaining All-Star Match and no less than two hero releases announced – Underlord and Monkey King – unexpected upsets and some of the biggest plays we’ve ever seen in Dota 2 history.
After such an upheaval, the final day and closing ceremony had much to deliver. And that is precisely what they did.
Digital Chaos managed to rout defending champions Evil Geniuses, 2:1, after a stellar performance in the deciding game and hands down some of the most intelligent plays we have ever seen in Dota 2. The International 5 champions, Evil Geniuses, have placed 3rd and will walk away with over $2.1 million.
With a completely packed KeyArena, in Seattle, and close to 6 million people watching online, we moved into The International 6 Grand Finals.
Digital Chaos were off to a great start and managed to spoil Wings Gaming’s Pudge pick to take the first game. Walking into the second game with a a 8-2 Main Event record – both losses being to DC – the Chinese managed to come back from a one-game deficit and close out the series, 3:1.
Top notch team work, a huge hero pool and impeccable drafts, perfectly timed and executed plays. The Chinese managed to adapt to everything that DC pulled out of their hats.
Wings Gaming, a team established less than one year ago, on August 25th, 2015, has brought the Aegis of Champions back to China. On top of the most coveted trophy in Dota 2, they will walk away with the biggest take-home pay in esports: a staggering $9,000,000.
No doubt, a very soul-stirring loss for Digital Chaos! However, they have been the biggest revelation of the tournament. A team created last minute before the Manila Major roster lock, in March, by players kicked out of other teams, has made it to the runner-up position at The International 6, and will bag over $3.4 million.
Interestingly enough, for eight out of the ten players in the Grand Finals TI6 was their first International event. We sure hope it won’t be the last one!

(969 comments)What a series! Wings are literally monsters! Well played to DC as well. A few less mistakes and there could have been a game 5. But the $9,000,000 comeback is real. The no meta patch as winter said, wings can play any heroes depends on the situation. They finally performed consistently at the very most important tournament of the year. Hands down they deserved the aegis of immortal. Congrats to Wings and let the reshuffle begin!

(868 comments)I knew it! Since I first saw them, I knew this team can go big, and oh boy did they deliver. Let’s just pick Pudge in the first game of grand finals and lose it, cause it wouldn’t be fun otherwise. Mad props to DC as well, I really like w33 and Moo, but this tournament was all Wings baby.
