UPDATE (August 13th):
TI6 final standings, updates and highlights – HERE
Yesterday, MVP.Phoenix and Wings Gaming stormed through the Upper Brackets to secure guaranteed Top 6 finishes and a paycheck of at least $900,000.
Firm favorites OG and North-American sensation Digital Chaos were sent to the Lower Brackets. Four teams – VG.Reborn, Team Secret, Escape Gaming, and Natus Vincere – were eliminated during the knock-out best-of-one round, and walked away with 0.5% of the total prize pool each – over $100,000.
We have four best-of-three series to look forward to today. Up first at 10:30 PDT (19:30 CEST) is EHOME vs. Alliance, followed by Evil Geniuses vs. Newbee, at 13:30 PDT (22:30 CEST) – both in the Upper Brackets.
Two of those teams will secure guaranteed Top 6 placements, while the other two will be sent to the Lower Brackets to continue their fight.
We’ll then move on to the Lower Brackets for OG vs. TnC (16:30 PDT/01:30 CEST) and Digital Chaos vs. LGD (19:30 PDT/04:30 CEST). Two teams will be knocked out of contention by the end of the day.
Valve’s The International has a long history of setting and breaking esports records – and this year’s event has already proven to be no different.
The total TI6 prize pool has already passed the $20 million mark, thus becoming the largest in esports history. Close to $9 million are set aside for the winning team, so the competition is at an all-time high.
