TI6 EU Qualifiers standings tie-breakers
Escape Gaming, Fantastic Five and Team Secret all had incredibly strong and fantastic showings in the group stage. It was a close race for the first place spot which would award the winner with a direct slot to TI6.
At the end of the scheduled matches, Team Secret had overpowered Team Empire pushing the European squad into a three way tie in the top position and eliminating the CIS team at the same time.
Even though Escape Gaming had defeated both Team Secret and Fantastic Five previously, they were still subject to the Tie Breaker rule that required all ties to be played out in new matches instead of based off of head to head previous encounters.
The first tie-breaker was set between Fantastic Five and Escape Gaming. The match started out relatively even until about 25 minutes when Escape Gaming just opened up the match and took it over. From that point the game was heavily one sided and gave Escape the first victory.
The second tie-breaker took place between Escape Gaming and Team Secret. With back and forth swings, Team Secret maintained much of the advantage and control. It still took over 70 minutes for Team Secret to clinch the game and take on the victory, evening out the tie-breaker score so far between the two teams.
The third tie-breaker match pit Team Secret against Fantastic Five. This was the match to determine the next steps and fate of the teams. Team Secret had control and dominance during most the match and eventually established a strong foothold on it about 22 minutes in. The team cruised to victory then by 48 minutes and secured their spot to TI6.
TI6 EU Qualifiers standings playoff and eliminated teams
Ad Finem and Alliance were able to hold tight to a place in the playoffs -both tied with a 5:4 record.
Virtus.pro had a disappointing second day despite a very strong first day – being in the lead with a 4:1 record. They lost all of their matches for the day – against Ad Finem, Fantastic Five, Escape Gaming and Flipsid3 Tactics. Their losses today put them at 4:5 deficit and eliminated them from the event.
Vega Squadron and Team Empire struggled in their results today and ended up tied with Virtus.Pro in a 4:5 record – being eliminated from the event.
Power Rangers came out of the gate swinging and took a game off of Fantastic Five. The Belarus based team was looking strong, but then dropped a match to Escape Gaming. They rebounded to defeat Flipsid3 Tactics in a 54 minute long game and started to hope for the best. They ended the day losing to Empire and then Alliance to seal their spot at the bottom with a 3:6 record.
Flipsid3 Tactics were unable to gain any momentum to pull themselves out of the bottom from yesterday. After losing their first two matches to Empire and Power Rangers, the team was mathematically already eliminated. They continued to play their last 2 matches against Team Secret – a game lost in 11 mins and defeated Virtus.Pro – giving them a 2:7 ending record.

(868 comments)I agree, but gotta be careful. The 2 of them combined won pretty much everything in the past 6 months, so they will fail sooner or later. And there’s no worse time to fail than during the TI.
