Taring (Team123), First Departure, Fnatic, MVP.Phoenix have all progressed to the playoff stage of the event.
I proceeded to the playoffs of a Valve tournament, is this real life?

Both Fnatic and MVP.Phoenix have risen up to the occasion and been able to reignite their previous successful performances to find themselves in the playoffs. Taring and First Departure will bring new blood to the playoffs and aim to bring down some old favorites.
A tie breaker was necessary between MVP.Phoenix and Mineski-X to determine which team would further advance. MVP.Phoenix were able to knock out Mineski-X after almost one hour and a great comeback at the end by the Koreans. Mineski-X had an incredible run in the event as a new team just formed and replacing their mid player one day prior to the group stages.
The matches resume on January 9th, at 07:30 CET, and are expected to be intense as the teams continue their quest towards the second stage of the qualifiers – the double elimination brackets.

Shanghai Major SEA Qualifiers standings day 2 Group A
Mineski had a rough run in the Shanghai Major SEA Qualifiers. In today’s matches they were only able to split the series verses TnC and lost against First Departure. The results placed them in the middle of the group, one place shy of being able to advance.
Nice guy @Meracleeeee giving @Mineski extra pause time c:

First Departure had an amazing run, bringing new fans and inspiration to their squad. The team dominated most of their matches and today’s 2:0 sweep through Mineski and split series against Taring gave them the opportunity to move into the playoffs. In the series against Mineski, the Malaysian team was running out of time for their pause when one of their players had disconnected. As admins reported that the game would need to be resumed due to the time limit, Galvin “Meracle” Kang Jian Wen unpaused the game and then repaused it so that the opponents could reconnect and the timer would start over. Meracle and FD went on to win the series.
Taring (formerly Team123) have also been a highlight of the SEA series. The team has had some incredible success in their matches and looks like they have been motivated by the recent support they received in their sponsorship. They aim to adequately represent Malaysia in the Shanghai Majors.
Shanghai Major SEA Qualifiers standings day 2 Group B
Fnatic looked to be in good form. They were able to dominate their opponents, winning their matches in under 30 minutes for all but one. Their recent adjustments in rosters and roles seemed to have paid off for them. They split their series with Mineski-X and MVP.Phoenix, while taking the sweep over XctN 2:0.
Mineski-X and MVP.Phoenix ended the day tied for the chance to advance. Both teams had pulled draws in all of their series for the day. They were then pitted against each other in a best-of-one tie breaker. MVP.Phoenix were able to take the game in an exciting 51 minute match.
