The Shanghai Major Group C continued with the group stages of the event early this morning. Just like Groups A and B, it was played out in it’s entirety today. OG and LGD Gaming were seeded into the upper brackets and Team Archon and Newbee were seeded into the lower brackets for the main event. Group D will conclude the group stages tomorrow and will start with EG vs compLexity and Virtus.Pro vs Team Liquid at 02:00 CET. Both series will be played simultaneously.
Shanghai Major Group C started out with another bang today as the morning started off with the abrupt removal of KeyTV as the production company for the English broadcast. With their departure, the the crew removed their equipment – leaving no productions for the Shanghai Major Group C games scheduled for today. The broadcast was streaming the raw footage only and the talent assembled together to salvage as much of a professional broadcast as they could.
China struggled in the group stage phase much more than was originally expected from them based on performances at MDL Winter 2015. Only LGD was able to find themselves into the upper brackets to represent China, with no other Chinese teams set to play tomorrow.
OG continue to shine and perform with precision and finesse that fans across the world have come to expect. The team dropped only one game to LGD as they made their way into the top of the group and clinched an upper bracket starting point for the main event. OG had taken up a lower bracket spot in the Frankfurt Major and were able to rise through to claim the championship title, besting Team Secret 3:1 in the grand finals.
Team Archon went through the day without seizing a single win and will start out in the lower brackets along with Newbee.

Shanghai Major Group C recap
Shanghai Dota Major – Group C
LGD vs Newbee
The all Chinese series between LGD and Newbee would be pushed to the third deciding game. The first match saw LGD steadily take and maintain their lead and advantage since the beginning. With both Liu “Sylar” Jiajun and Lu “Maybe” Yao leading the charts in networth and having outstanding games, the team was able to grab the first victory. The second game was incredibly one sided as Newbee crushed LGD in just over 20 minutes. Chen “Hao” Zhihao’s perfect game on Sven and remarkable performance by Meng “Xiao2lei” Lei on Beastmaster was too much for LGD to handle. It took more than 50 minutes for the series to be decided as the third game was prolonged by farming and patience. LGD were in the end victorious as they began to snowball and take a massive lead around 40 minutes into the game.

The first match in the series between OG and Team Archon was over in a blink of an eye. Both teams were taking objectives and trading kills until about 36 minutes into the game. Once Roshan was slain and OG were able to purchase their last needed items, the team became unstoppable quickly taking a swing of 26k gold in their favor in only three minutes.

The TI4 championship team was able to take the first game in the series against the North American hopefuls. Armed with a Tiny-Io combo and a powerful Hao on Sven, they took the game in only 46 minutes with a 49k gold advantage. Despite a craft play by Jio “Jeyo” Madayag using Phantom Lancer’s Doppelganger ability as an escape, it wouldn’t be enough for Team Archon to gain any advantages. A spectacular game from Zhang “Mu” Pan on Puck in the second game and another incredible game by the captain, Hao, lead Newbee to an easy second victory in less than 40 minutes.
Shanghai Major Group C: Team Archon 0:2 Newbee. Newbee will continue in the upper bracket group stage. Team Archon starts in the lower bracket for the main event.
OG vs LGD
Right out of the gates OG took control over the first game in the series. Taking the first blood in just over one minute, they continued to dominate the map, kills and objectives. The game ended in a complete bloodbath for LGD as OG easily took 2 kills and allowed only six deaths in the 31 minutes of play. Another incredibly perfect and stellar performance by Miracle- continues to propel the Europeans further into spotlight and top team rankings. The second game in the series was more evenly matched between the two teams until about mid game. Although OG were able to take the lead, LGD never refused to give up the fight or game and continued to push foward. By 75 minutes, the Chinese team were able to victoriously take the throne and force a deciding third game.

The third game started out even between the teams as they clashed head to head to become the first team to secure a spot in the upper brackets. While LGD had a slight advantage, it would be Miracle- and his Slark that would proved to be too much for the Chinese team to handle.

Liu “Sylar” Jiajun had a perfect game on Lone Druid and Newbee didn’t have any way to kill or take down Lu “Maybe” Yao on slark. The second game featured the same two heroes LD and Slark, with the same incredible results for LGD. They were able to easily take the second match to claim the victory for the upper brackets in 28 minutes.
