The WESG Americas LAN finals have come to an exciting conclusion – bestowing the Peruvian team Infamous a title, giving the notorious support player Jesus “Ztok” Carhuaricra a chance to compete and secure a Dota 2 trophy. Ztok had been banned from Valve events when caught up in a matchfixing scandallast February. The player has since been coaching the team instead of competing.
The team from Peru had taken the top spot in the group with a flawless 3:0 record – not dropping a single match.
Their success granted them a direct place at the main event in China and seeded into the second round of playoffs. They then bested TShow 2:1 to advance to the grand finals and then overpowered kingao+4 (formerly known as paiN-Gaming) 2:1 for the trophy and title.
Infamous, kingao+4, Team DileCom, TShow, Vultur and Team One will head East to Shanghai for the main event and $1.5 million prize pool scheduled for January.
Eight teams battled it out in Sao Paolo, Brazil, October 21-23 for the six spots available at the WESG finals in Shanghai, China, set to take place in January 2017. Due to political circumstances with local embassies, NA and Canadian teams had withdrawn from the event.
