Team Secret, B)ears, NiP and Alliance are headed to the Kiev Major EU regional qualifier playoffs.
Team Secret went full throttle in the Kiev Major EU regional qualifiers. The team pulled out all of the stops with some magnificent plays and superior performances. After a rough stretch for the team filled with public drama and less than expected results – the team appears to have found their groove while bootcamping at the 2GD studios in Sweden.
As a reward for their efforts, Team Secret were allowed to choose their opponents moving forward. They went for Ninjas In Pyjamas. The European team took third place in a tight group stage.
B)ears, just formed at the end of December and led by Adrian “FATA-” Trinks has appeared on the scene as the new team to be wary of. Impressive individual skills paired with tight synergy and cohesion, the team is already looking to be a prime contender in major tournaments in the near future.
Cloud 9’s victory against EPG in the last series of the night was enough to prevent the Balkan based team from advancing and creating a three way tie-breaker. Both Alliance and NiP ended with a 6:3 record, but the seeding gave NiP the edge as they had previously defeated Alliance in the group stage.
ALTERNATE aTTaX had a difficult run, unable to pick up a single victory ending with a 0:9 record and destroyed hopes for an appearance at the Kiev Major.
The Kiev Major qualifiers will be covered by Beyond the Summit: stream #1, stream #2, stream #3, stream #4 and MoonduckTV stream #1 and stream #2.

Kiev Major Qualifiers format
The Kiev Major Qualifiers format is the same as it was for the Boston Major – which had been adjusted compared to previous Majors. This season, teams will be pitted against each other in a single group, instead of divided into two groups. Another significant change, teams will face each other in a best-of-one round robin. The top four teams in the group stage will advance to a best-of-three GSL-style playoffs bracket. Two teams from China and SEA, one team from NA, EU, SA and CIS will qualify for the Kiev Major. Thus, there will be two phases to the Kiev Major Qualifiers format: group stage and playoffs.
Kiev Major Qualifiers playoffs
- 1st place team chooses 3rd or 4th place team as an opponent
- 2nd place team competes against remaining team
- GSL bracket format
