Close to 450 teams from the European region checked in for the ESL One New York Open Qualifiers, today. Only 16 remained by the end of the day and will move forward to tomorrow’s quarter finals. The remaining teams will compete for one of the three available spots in the ESL One New York Europe Main Qualifiers.
In the wake of the post TI5 shuffle, many known teams and mixes of various professional players have been trying out new rosters and making a high-spirited attempt to be one of the three teams to emerge victorious and claim the opportunity to compete in the main qualifiers for ESL One New York.
The main event will take place at the Madison Square Garden, on October 3rd and 4th, with a base prize pool of $250,000.
ESL One New York European Open Qualifiers: Round of 16 teams
HellRaisers – made their long awaited return to competition. Their lineup is comprised of their three core players – Afoninje, goddam and Dread – and two new players, MeTTpum and RodjER – who have not been officially announced as permanent members yet
newteam123123 – Goblak made it to the Round of 16 with a mix that includes Sedoy and NoFear.
Abraxas – a team that has had a strong presence in many of the minor tournaments in the European region recently
Monkey Freedom Fighters – a team comprised of SingSing, Socks/Paris, Ar1se, 7ckingMad and Yapzor
Golden Boys – the recently departed London Conspiracy roster, with new member Verros “Maybe Next Time” Apostolos.
Teamless – Russian mix featuring BzzIsPerfect, GeneRaLua, HealingTouch, kamikadze, Sunlight, yol
E-Lab – recently advanced into the MSI Dragon Battle semi-finals
SMG – (also known as Low Priority Kingz) is a Norwegian team that has been grabbing some attention; it features jOOOEY_^, Klaze, Scarecrovv, Storvikz, Limex
Team Alternate – Polish team formerly called “Let’s Do It”
Zero Respect! – French stack including Crio_J and Joraal
Fakel17 – Ukrainian mix including ARTES, formerly of HellRaisers

ESL One New York
ESL One New York will be held between October 3rd and 4th at the Madison Square Garden. This year’s event will feature a starting prize-pool of $250,000, almost double the final amount of last year’s prize fund. Invited teams have not yet been announced, although many expect to see the reigning champions ViCi Gaming in attendance, as well as ESL One Frankfurt champions, Team Secret.
