Ad Finem has now evolved into a full professional gaming organization. Starting out as a Dota 2 squad formed by Giorgos “SsaSpartan” Giannakopoulos in early December, Ad Finem will now feature additional divisions, including Hearthstone, CS:GO, League of Legends and a Dota 2 academy team – all comprised of Greek players.
Ad Finem has now branched out to become a full professional esports organization, based in Greece. The company has teams and players in various games, such as Hearthstone, League of Legends, CS:GO and, of course, Dota 2. They will also support a Dota 2 academy team called Face the Norths.
It started out as a Dota 2 team, but we decided to expand further. I’m really excited about this, to be honest. It’s a really big improvement for esports in Greece and when we reach success other people will start to notice and accept that esports is here to stay.
– Mike “Madao” Chatzialexiou, Ad Finem Dota 2 manager
Originally, Giorgos “SsaSpartan” Giannakopoulos had once again formed an all-Greek squad on December 4th, in time for the Shanghai Major roster lock, and called it Ad Finem – meaning “to the end”.
According to Madao, one month after the team became successful and popular, the squad, manager and co-manager were approached by two successful local businessmen passionate about Dota 2 and esports. Alexandros Mavroudis and Nikos Fotinakis were eager to discuss further evolution of Greek esports, and the concept of Ad Finem Esports was brought to life.
SsaSpartan has quickly become the most famous and most successful Greek player, having gained the biggest amount of tournament prize money out of all Greek esports players.

In early December, the Greek captain and support player ventured out to create another all-Greek team. He was joined by ex-teammates from London Conspiracy days, Omar “Madara” Dabasas and Kharis “SkyLark” Zafeiriou. Both Madara and SkyLark had played alongside Verros “Maybe Next Time” Apostolos in Golden Boys recently, before Madara departed the team to join No Logic Gaming, in November.
Dimitris “ThuG” Plivouris had originally been a part of No Logic Gaming at its conception.
On January 31st, the team seized their first championship title under the Ad Finem banner.
They have had a very strong, consistent and successful start in the Dota 2 scene. After taking the ProDota Cup Season 2 title, they placed 5-8th in the ESL One Manila European qualifiers, 3-4th in BTS Europe 2, 2nd in ProDota Cup 3 and 2nd in Rumble Town.
