The first day of the Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers is over, with 32 teams left standing in each of the three regions – Americas, Europe and Southeast Asia. Remaining teams will continue today for the chance to compete in the main Regional Qualifiers. DotaBlast will follow the notable contenders as they advance through the brackets and will provide live updates all throughout the day.
The European region seems to be the only one that suffered some losses of notable teams during the Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers. For Kaipi, Golden Boys, mYinsanity, and HeHe United, the journey to the Frankfurt Dota Major ended early. The silver lining is that they will have a second chance to compete in the Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers scheduled to start tomorrow.
Other notable teams from the three regions, such as Monkey Freedom Fighters, Team Empire, Arcade.PowerRangers, No Logic Gaming, aSpera, Ancient Warriors, ATN, BigRedMachine, HellRaisers, Scareyfacezzz, PRIES, Fantastic Five, HCoWP, ROOT Gaming, TongFu.NA, Boreal, Mischief, and God Bless will continue today, in the second and last day of the first set of Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers.
Only one team in each region will have the opportunity to compete in the main Regional Qualifiers scheduled to take place over this weekend, October 10-14.
The progression of the teams can be monitored in the brackets during the course of the event. Games are best-of-one, with semifinals (round of 4) and finals being best-of-three series.

Notable teams still in contention in the Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers
Team Empire
Team Empire announced a part of their roster changes for the new season at the end of August. The Russian organization parted ways with Maxim “yoky” Kim and Andrey “ALWAYSWANNAFLY” Bondarenko and welcomed Ivan “ubah” Kapustin and Andrey “The_apathy” Aleshkov.
Team Empire were the first to find themselves in a precarious position. When one of their new members, Andrew “The_apathy” Aleshkov, was recruited before the September 5th roster lock deadline, he was unable to register with Empire since he had already accepted his invite to represent team aSpera for the Frankfurt Dota Major. His commitment to aSpera resulted in a locked position, making him unable to be kicked or leave on his own.
With several days left in the transfer window, both Empire and aSpera approached Valve for help to rectify the incident. Valve’s response remained hard lined, reminding the teams of the rules and criteria in the new Majors system.
Already having lost the ability to participate with their chosen lineup in the Regional Qualifiers and being faced with the decision to play with their designated substitute or register for the Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers, the Team Empire chose the latter option. Once they were already in the unfortunate situation of having to take the long road in hopes to play in the Frankfurt Major, they used the time to their advantage to try various players in order to find the perfect mix. They eventually welcomed Maxim “yoky” Kim back and added Alexander “NoFear” Churochkin as the captain.
Team Empire roster:
Airat “Silent” Gaziev
Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok
Maxim “yoky” Kim
Ilya “ALOHADANCE” Korobkin
Alexander “NoFear” Churochkin
Arcade.PowerRangers
Most recently, the team seized the championship title in the ProDota Cup from Burden United. The victory gave Power Rangers their first championship title in one year’s time.
On August 26th, Danil “Bignum” Shehovtsov replaced Ivan “Gorec” Kartankov in the Arcade.PowerRangers lineup, as the final official team member for the roster lock time period.
However, the team continued to be plagued by roster changes, as Maxim “TpoH” Vernikov has officially been named as the replacement for Dmitry “Ditya Ra” Minenkov.
According to the team’s website the decision to leave was a mutual one, fueled by decrease in team morale and motivation.
The team receive invitations to numerous tournaments, such as The Gaming Resorts invitational, Game Show Global Cup, Alienware Summer’s End Cup, The Defense #5, and D2CL season #6. They were unable to qualify for ESL One New York 2015 and ASUS ROG DreamLeague Season 4.
Arcade.PowerRangers were recently joined by former Monkey Freedom Fighters player, Ionuț “Ar1sE” Turtoi.
Arcade.PowerRangers roster:
Maxim “TpoH” Vernikov
Eugene “chshrct” Kostroma

The European mix made their first appearance during the post-TI5 shuffle, when they participated in the ESL One New York Open Qualifiers. The team has since been invited to and participated in several tournaments and qualifiers.

Since then, the team has won a considerable number of tournaments, placing first and second in MSI Dragon Battles, JoinDOTA Masters, GIGABYTE, Battle of Central Europe, Yard Festival, Esportal and fourth at the Red Bull Battle Grounds, where they defeated Team Empire, Na’Vi and Virtus.Pro to qualify for their spot.
HellRaisers had a disappointing performance during the TI5 European Qualifiers, where they placed last in their group, with 3 draws, one loss, and a total of only 3 points.
In mid June, HellRaisers announced that they had parted ways with Ivan “gorec” Kartankov and Artyom “Artes” Gorobey, due to “internal conflicts”.
On September 4th, they announced that their new Dota 2 team would include Daniil “MeTTpuM” Gileev and Maksim “Shachlo” Abramovsky. The team has been participating in numerous qualifiers and tournaments since, making their way back towards the top of the CIS scene.

Lemondogs
4 Friends + Chrillee was founded when a group of friends decided to make the transition from HoN to Dota 2. The name started out as a joke when Chrillee was late for the meeting during which they were supposed to name the team. Christopher “Chrillee” Wåhlin has remained on the squad since the very beginning, through various versions of lineups.
4FC hit the spotlight for the first time at DreamHack Winter 2012, where they performed well against more established teams such as Evil Geniuses and No Tidehunter (The Alliance).
On April 13, 2015, the squad was picked up by Lemondogs – a well-known Swedish esports organization with rosters in LOL, COD, Shootmania, SC2, FIFA, and most notably CS:GO.
Since being signed, they managed to place 3rd-4th in the ESL ASUS Play It Cool tournament and second in the Serbian LAN Razer Think Fast Cup 2. It was before the Serbian LAN that Lemondogs parted ways with German player Mathis “Jabbz” Friesel and were seen playing with former 4FC player Carl-Philip “Strangby” Strängby as a stand-in.
On August 31st, Lemondogs announced their finalized lineup for the new season. Christopher “Chrillee” Wåhlin, Eskil “eskillz” Sundblad, Staffan “Steffstyle” Solin, and Tobias “eresloco” Everhorn were joined by their old teammate and friend, Jesper “Frigoleet” Göthe, who made his return to the competitive scene.
