Second day of the D2CL Season 5 LAN finals is underway. Burden United and Ninjas in Pyjamas faced off for a spot in the Lower Bracket finals versus ViCi Gaming. Team Empire advanced to the Grand Finals, after besting VG, 2:1, last night.
Burden United stepped up to the plate and managed to eliminate Ninjas in Pyjamas, 2:1, in the D2CL Season 5 Lower Bracket Round 1. The Swedes were the first team to leave the competition, while Johan “Mynuts” Andersson, Titouan “PARIS” Merloz, Selim “Neqroman” Oynar, Alexandru “ComeWithMe” Crăciunescu, and WehSing “SingSing” Yuen finished third, after losing to ViCi Gaming, 0:2, in the D2CL Season 5 Lower Bracket finals.
ViCi Gaming will now advance to the D2CL Season 5 Grand Finals, where they will have the chance to settle the score with Team Empire.
Team Empire have toppled ViCi Gaming, 2:1, in yesterday’s D2CL Season 5 Upper Bracket finals and will advance to the Grand Finals scheduled for today, at 15:30 GMT. With spot on plays by ALOHADANCE and strong drafts in the first two games versus Burden United, Team Empire was looking confident going into the match against the tournament favorites, ViCi Gaming. With the new patch 6.84 changes supporting more team fighting and less creep farming, Team Empire’s aggressive play style was perfectly suited to best ViCi Gaming.

D2CL Season 5 kicked off on February 23. The event is being held in collaboration with Natus Vincere and Virtus.Pro, with a prize pool of over $50,000. An additional $2.50 for each Dota 2 Champions League Bundle sold and 10% of every set sold will be added to the prize pool. In addition, all travel expenses for the attending teams will be covered by D2CL. As of May 10, the total prize-pool has reached $79,504.
