ESL One Genting 2017 playoffs have now been set following another exciting group stage day.
Virtus.Pro and Wings Gaming stepped up to the plate in the final moments to hit home runs with knock out performances. Their sweep over their opponents gave them the upper hand and a slot into the semi finals.
After wiping out Fnatic with a grueling 74 minute last match, Team NP went on to face the formidable Virtus.Pro. Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko’s performances on Sniper and then Invoker mid were an incredible treat to spectate, giving Team NP little room for error. Young Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev showed up with his A game as well, using Ursa and Juggernaut to help secure the victory for his team in a two game domination. Their victory brought them the reward of a playoff spot to face Digital Chaos.
Execration toppled over Warriors Gaming.Unity with a 2:1 score. Djardel Jicko B. “DJ” Mampusti continued to impress fans and peers across the board with his spectacular plays. Unfortunately for the SEA team, they were not able to maintain their momentum and success as they then moved on to face the TI6 championship team – Wings Gaming. The Chinese took the first game with relative ease, but then just annihilated XctN in the second game with a 20:1 score. Wings triumph set the stage for an all Chinese semi finals – facing Newbee for the elimination series and battle for a spot in the grand finals.
Four teams had what it took to advance to the playoffs – Newbee, Wings Gaming, Virtus.Pro and Digital Chaos.
Matches will resume with the ESL One Genting 2017 playoffs January 8th at 03:30 CET as Digital Chaos takes on Virtus.Pro to be the first team to advance to the Grand Finals.
