ESL One Frankfurt 2016 Chinese qualifiers begin today

With just a month before the event is scheduled to start, ESL One Frankfurt 2016 Chinese qualifiers are getting ready to kick off. The qualifiers will take place between May 13-16th with twenty teams will competing for the last slot to participate in the main event. ESL One Frankfurt will take place June 18-19th at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. Eight teams – Na’Vi Alliance, OG, Team Liquid, Fnatic, compLexity Gaming, Vega Squadron and one more team from China yet to be determined – will compete for the $250,000 base prize-pool.

ESL One Frankfurt 2016 Chinese qualifiers are getting started today.

Twenty Chinese teams will be competing for the last remaining spot for ESL One Frankfurt 2016 taking place June 18-19th at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. Qualifiers take place starting May 13- 16th.

One team will have the privilege to compete alongside Na’Vi Alliance, OG, Team Liquid, Fnatic, compLexity Gaming and Vega Squadron for the $250,000 prize pool.

• 20 teams overall
• Ten teams start in pre-qualifier
• Two teams will advance to main qualifier
• Eight teams start in main qualifier round one (six invites, two from pre-qualifier)
• Four teams directly invited to main qualifier round two (quarterfinals)
• Single elimination format
• All matches are best-of-3
• Grand Finals are best-of-5
• Last remaining team advances to ESL One Frankfurt 2016

ESL One Frankfurt 2016 format groupstage

• ESL One Frankfurt 2016 group stage will be played in a classic GSL format.
• The 8 participating teams will be split up into two groups.

  In each group, the teams will play best-of-three matches, as shown below:

  Match #1: Team A vs. Team B
  Match #2: Team C vs. Team D
  Winners’ match (WM): Winner of Match #1 vs. winner of Match #2 – winner advances to the Upper Bracket
  Losers’ match (EM): Loser of Match #1 vs. loser of Match #2 – loser drops to the Lower Bracket
  Decider match: Loser of WM vs. winner of EM – winner advances to the Upper Bracket and loser drops to Lower Bracket

• The group stage will determine the seeding for the main event.
• Four teams will be seeded into the main event Upper Brackets, while the remaining four will start the main event in the Lower Brackets.
• No teams will be eliminated in the group stage.

ESL One Frankfurt 2016 format: Main event

• Eight teams will play a double-elimination bracket.
• Four teams (top two teams of each of the groups) will start the main event in the Upper Bracket.
• Four teams (bottom two teams of each of the groups) will start the main event in the Lower Bracket.
• All the Upper Bracket match-ups will be best-of-three series.
• The first round of the Lower Bracket matches will be best-of-one elimination series. The following rounds will be best-of-three elimination series.
• The Grand Finals will be best-of-five series, with no winners’ advantage.

Team Secret were unstoppable, taking their fourth consecutive LAN win at ESL One Frankfurt 2015. The European power house destroyed Evil Geniuses, 3:1, in the Grand Finals.
