First day of StarSeries Season XII continued with Team MY’s impressive 2-1 victory over Team Secret in a very anticipated match of the day and the elimination of the first team from the tournament as London Conspiracy dropped 0-4 in their first major LAN tournament.
Upper Bracket Quarter Finals
Team Secret vs Team Malaysia
Game 1
The first game went in the favor of the Malaysian power houses as they stomped Team Secret throughout the game with “Kecik Imba” Fadil bin Mohd Raziff on Viper completely dominating the mid lane. An early mekanism purchase made team fights really difficult considering Team Secret were not doing so well in the other lanes. There were a couple of skirmishes where Team MY lost one or two heroes, but each time they came out even or ahead in the team fights. Team Secret tried to split push and spread out so they would not have to five on five team fight MY, but after viper and leshrac got way too strong, Secret was not able to face them. According to statsman Alan “Nahaz” Bester this score difference was the worst for Team Secret since they were formed. The score was 44-14, a point difference of 30. Kecik Imba is now 27-10 on Viper, the most wins on the hero of any pro player.
Game 2
In the drafts, Secret picked Phantom Assasin again even though it as not very successful in their first game, which proved to be a powerful hero for Artour “Arteezy” Babaev this time. MY had some interesting picks including a mid-lane nightstalker. Although the game was close throughout the duration of the match, exceptional plays by each of the individuals on Team Secret is what lead to the win. Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi claimed first blood but their early game lead was kept to a minimum with “Ohaiyo” Chong Xin Khoo Bristle Back on bottom lane. Secret was able to secure kills and push towers by mid game and after two devastating team wipes on Team MY they managed to pull ahead enough to force an end to the game shortly after. The win for Team Secret evened out the series and pushed into a deciding third game.
Game 3
Team MY won in an impressing manner with “Kecik Imba” securing a solo kill on Gustav “s4” Magnusson’s Zeus early in mid lane. It looked as if Team MY wanted to give the usual pub-star heroes, Juggernaut and Lina some few last chances to shine as its expected they will be the heroes to be nerfed in the next patch following the conclusion of this tournament. Team Secret didn’t have an answer to Omni Knight’s repel and was a key factor in what made this game harder than expected for them. There were many great plays by Team Malaysia, who were the underdogs of this match and did exceptionally well. Many believe that based on these performances, Team MY will have secured The International 5 invite.
Team Secret will now drop into the Lower Bracket Quarter Finals to face either Invictus Gaming or The Alliance, tomorrow at 09:30 CEST.

Lower Bracket Quarter Finals
London Conspiracy vs Team Tinker
Once again London Conspiracy started off the early game well, picking up a few kills on the safe lane. Towards the mid game, things started to even out as Sam “BuLba” Sosale was dominating on Faceless Void on the offlane and with some great chronospheres. Even after a team wipe and London Conspiracy getting an aegis, Bulba continued to land successful chronospheres, capturing multiple heroes which were enhanced by his teammates magical damage, eventually securing a victory 48 minutes into the game after many back and forth late game fights.
Game 2
London Conspiracy’s second game drafts were very different from their first, and instead of a pushing strategy they went for damage. However, this time LC did not have the early game advantage and suffered significantly with TT having a substantial kill lead by minute 13, score of 8-3. Shadowfiend and Anti-Mage were gaining in wroth and strength while Nikos “ReaLaxXx” Kiazolis Axe was struggling to even purchase his blink dagger. A “Godlike” streak by Shadow Fiend only helped for them to snowball and begin to take down towers by 30 minutes. After Storm Spirit failed to steal the aegis and Team Tinker started on the barracks, LC called ‘GG’ and were eliminated from the tournament, without securing even one win. Considering London Conspiracy emerged from a lower tier team bracket, they put up some good fights in their first LAN tournament debut.
Team Tinker will advance to the Lower Bracket Semi Finals to be played tomorrow afternoon at 16:30 CEST.
