ESL One Frankfurt 2016 format has been released and will begin with GSL style group stage on June 17th now. The group stage will be closed and used to determine the seeding for the brackets for the main event. ESL One Frankfurt 2016 main event will be held June 18 and 19th at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt Germany. Eight teams, yet to be determined, will compete for the $250,000 prize pool.

ESL One Frankfurt 2016 format has been released. The event will now be held over a three day span June 17-19th, beginning with closed group stage to determine the seeding for the main event. Fans are not able to attend the group stage but are able to attend a public viewing at Sam’s Sportsbar starting at 10:00 CEST.
The main event will take place June 18-19th at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany.
ESL One Frankfurt 2016 closes out the $1,000,000 pledge to Dota 2 and brings the festivities back to Germany in June 2016 with a $250,000 starting prize pool featuring eight of the best teams from around the world.
The eight teams – three directly invited, three qualified from EU, one qualified from China and one qualified from NA – are still yet to be determined and announced. There are no NA qualified scheduled.
ESL One Frankfurt 2016 format
Eight teams will compete in a single elimination best-of-three series ending with a best-of-five grand finals.
The format of the tournament will be same as ESL One Manila and will feature a GSL style group stage ahead of the playoffs.

- ESL One Frankfurt 2016 group stage will be played in a classic GSL format.
- The 8 participating teams will be split up into two groups.
In each group, the teams will play best-of-three matches, as shown below:
Match #1: Team A vs. Team B
Match #2: Team C vs. Team D
Winners’ match (WM): Winner of Match #1 vs. winner of Match #2 – winner advances to the Upper Bracket
Losers’ match (EM): Loser of Match #1 vs. loser of Match #2 – loser drops to the Lower Bracket
Decider match: Loser of WM vs. winner of EM – winner advances to the Upper Bracket and loser drops to Lower Bracket - The group stage will determine the seeding for the main event.
- Four teams will be seeded into the main event Upper Brackets, while the remaining four will start the main event in the Lower Brackets.
- No teams will be eliminated in the group stage.
ESL One Frankfurt 2016 format: Main event
- Eight teams will play a double-elimination bracket.
- Four teams (top two teams of each of the groups) will start the main event in the Upper Bracket.
- Four teams (bottom two teams of each of the groups) will start the main event in the Lower Bracket.
- All the Upper Bracket match-ups will be best-of-three series.
- The first round of the Lower Bracket matches will be best-of-one elimination series. The following rounds will be best-of-three elimination series.
- The Grand Finals will be best-of-five series, with no winners’ advantage.
ESL One Frankfurt 2016 EU and SEA qualifiers
- The open qualifiers will take place starting on April 2nd for EU and April 3rd for SEA.
- All matches will be best-of-one until the semi-finals
- Semi-finals and finals will be best-of-three
- Top 3 teams from EU will be joined by the Go4Dota 2 March Finals winner in the regional qualifiers
- Top 4 teams from SEA will advance to compete in the regional qualifiers
- Regional qualifiers will be held starting on April 4th for EU and April 7th for SEA
- Regional qualifiers will see the four qualified teams competing alongside four invited teams
- Three winners from the Regional Qualifiers EU will advance to the main event
- One winner from the Regional Qualifiers SEA will advance to the main event

Infield Seating ticket – €39 ( free seating on pitch level and are free to move around as you please. Of course you will still have access to all the festival activities.)

Team Secret were unstoppable, taking their fourth consecutive LAN win at ESL One Frankfurt 2015. The European power house destroyed Evil Geniuses, 3:1, in the Grand Finals.
