Evil Geniuses have defeated Virtus.Pro in a decisive game five of the Summit 4 Grand Finals, 3:2, and will walk away with almost $50,000 in prize money. The Summit 4 is EG’s fourth championship title this year, bringing their 2015 tournament winnings close to 8.7 million dollars.
The Summit 4 was one of the most engaging tournaments of the season. Over the course of five days, eight of the most promising Dota 2 teams have competed in a double elimination bracket for a prize purse of over $100,000, in BeyondTheSummit’s intimate headquarters, situated in Los Angeles, California.
The main event scheduled for December 9-13 has lined up a total of eight teams – Evil Geniuses, Virtus.Pro, ViCi Gaming, OG, Team Liquid, EHOME, Mineski, Digital Chaos.
December 11th saw the first eliminations, when Mineski and Digital Chaos were knocked out of contention by Virtus.Pro and EHOME, respectively. Three teams – Team Liquid, EHOME, and OG – left the competition the following day, during the Lower Bracket quarter and semi finals. The final three teams – ViCi Gaming, Virtus.Pro, and Evil Geniuses – competed on the last day of the event, December 13th, for the Lower Bracket finals and Grand Finals.
Evil Geniuses faced Virtus.Pro in the best-of-five Grand Finals and managed to turn the tides to their favor and win the series, 3:2.
Evil Geniuses have had a truly splendid year, winning four championship titles, including The International 5. Their tournament winnings alone in 2015 have reached a staggering $8,650,320.

This year, BeyondTheSummit were unable to reinstate the Redemption Vote for the Summit 4, due to issues with third party compendiums in Reborn.
The base prize pool of $100,000 has reached $114,866 through crowd funding.
Full travel support has been provided to all the participating teams.
