Alliance have recreated the lineup which brought them the Aegis of Champions at The International 3, by bidding welcome to former teammate and long-time friend, Jerry “EGM” Lundkvist, most recently of 4 Clovers & Lepricon.
The announcement came three days after Johan “Mynuts” Andersson had been released from the roster and just in time for the Shanghai Major registration deadline.
Jonathan “Loda” Berg, Alliance’s captain:
About one and a half year ago we made a tough decision. A decision that would forever change our history as Dota players. We removed a player that had helped us immensely, with the hope that it would make us stronger, closer and also more synergized as a team.
Today I am happy to announce the return of EGM. Some of you might question this decision. It’s scary to remake a lineup, a lineup that won it all, a lineup that went through tough losses and ended our second year together with disappointment. Some of you might call this a mistake, that looking back is a sign of weakness. But to me it feels like fate. The circle is once again complete and Jerry, you are now back where you belong.
EGM had the following to say about re-joining Alliance:
Since parting from Alliance after TI4 I’ve pursued success in a couple of other teams, but now time has come to make my return to Alliance, and I’m looking forward to once again playing with my old friends. Exciting times are ahead of us, be prepared!
Alliance revealed their revamped roster for the new season, on August 27th, just in time for the roster lock for the Frankfurt Major. The all-Swedish lineup included Johan “Mynuts” Andersson and Gustav “s4” Magnusson – who had been expected to return to the Alliance family. s4 resumed the captain role, while Mynuts assumed his place in the support role.
Alliance has recently had renewed success with their roster. The Swedish team has qualified for the Frankfurt Major, placing 9th at the event and has clinched a spot for the WCA 2015.
Alliance have recently placed 4th at the DreamLeague Season 4 LAN, hosted at DreamHack Winter. They also went undefeated in their StarLadder i-League group stage. They were at the top of their group in The Defense 5 – with a 8-2 score, and ended up third overall during the offline playoffs and finals in Berlin.
Recently, they have withdrawn from the Game Show Global eSports Cup Season 1 citing “private reasons within the team” and dropped out of The Summit 4 European Qualifiers due to heavy time constraints.
