Just in time for the Shanghai Major Open Qualifiers, 4Clovers & Lepricon have announced that they will continue to play this season, but will be changing their name to “MamasBoys”.
We only had one player from the original 4C&L roster, so we thought it was time to change the name!
– Joe Eastham, MamasBoys’ Manager
Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj has been a longtime member of the team. He was part of the original mix put together in March 2015, together with Artur “Goblak” Kostenko and Kai “H4nn1” Hanbückers.
The current roster includes Per “Anders” Pajkatt Olsson, who parted ways with Alliance on August 18th, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov who has been first on the MMR leaderboards and most recently a part of Team Moriarity, as well as founding member Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj.
Most recently, the team has added Mohammad “Hook” Al-Sheikh and Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat, both former teammates from Balkan Bears.
4Clovers & Lepricon turn MamasBoys: Short history of the team
In late March 2015, after Goblak left Na’Vi, he put together a new team with some other known teamless professional players.
4 Clovers & Lepricon made a strong and impressive debut, claiming the Esportal Open Qualifier #3 LAN spot, after defeating 4 Anchors and Sea Captain, on April 15. However, following that performance, the team was defeated by m5, on April 19, in the first round of the Yard Festival and by YES on April 28th in the first round of the DreamLeague Qualifiers #4.
Less than one month after forming 4 Clovers & Lepricon, captain and founder Artur “Goblak” Kostenko parted ways with the team. There has been no statement about the reasons surrounding his short lived affiliation with 4CL. Ivan “Vanskor” Skorokhod stepped in to take the support role, although still being listed as a reserve/inactive player for Natus Vincere at that time.
Only three days after Goblak’s departure, Kai “H4nn1” Hanbückers announced his retirement from the competitive scene. Swedish player Niklas “Wagamama” Högström would take his place on 4 Clovers & Lepricon.
4C&L did not advance beyond the first day of the TI5 Open Qualifiers. Only a few days later, the team faced its third roster change in less than two months, with the addition of Jerry “EGM” Lundkvist and Omar “w33haa” Aliwi.
The team then suffered additional changes in the lineup in August, as they lost three players: Wagamama and Vanskor walked away on August 19th, while w33haa parted ways with the team, in order to join Team Secret, on August 21st.
The team had since continued to have a strong presence in the scene, playing in various tournaments. They took third place in the Alienware Summer’s End Cup and first place in Moonduck Studio’s debut tournament, Elimination Mode.
They went on to take an impressive third place at DreamLeague Season 4 and second at the Game Show Global eSports Cup Season 1. The last tourament was The Defense Season 5, where they took a commendable 5th place finish.
Then the last blow came when Jerry “EGM” Lundkvist left the team to rejoin Alliance, in December.
