WCA 2015 VoDS Grand Finals, third place decider
Team Liquid
Team Liquid easily took a 3:0 victory over Wings Gaming to seize third place. The European team didn’t seem to have much problem shutting down the rising Chinese team. All three of the matches were each under 29 minutes an heavily one sided. The first game in series lasted only 15 minutes with a devastating score of 24:4, giving Team Liquid shot of confidence. The second and third games were a bit longer at 26 and 29 minutes respectively, with the last game being a bit more even through the mid game.
Team Liquid grabbed a commendable 4th place at the Nanyang Championships LAN and fifth place at The Summit 4. They seized the title in D2CL Season 6 and in The Defense 5, demonstrating their incredibly strong will and talent to thrive in the international scene.
WCA 2015 VoDS Grand Finals
Alliance didn’t seem to have too much trouble grabbing wins against LGD Gaming. The first two games went in favor of the Swedes with what seemed to be little effort. They easily rolled over LGD, with Jonathan “Loda” Berg looking on point with Naga and then Bristle Back.
Not to be outdone, LGD grabbed the third game from Alliance just as easy as they had given away the first two. With Loda not getting the farm he needed and Liu “Sylar” Jiajun’s Gyrocopter outfarming everyone, LGD were ahead with minimal threat. Lu “Maybe” Yao’s stellar Dragon Knight propelled the team to victory. Giving up only two kills to Alliance in the fourth game, LGD crushed the Swedes in only 22 minutes to tie the series up and force a five game Grand Finals.
The last game to decide the WCA 2015 champions started out much closer with Alliance eventually taking the advantage in both experience and gold. Exercising their infamous “Rat Dota” pushing power, Alliance went full force towards their end objective. Alliance become the championship team defeating LGD 3:2.
Alliance recreated the lineup which brought them the Aegis of Champions at The International 3, by bidding welcome to former teammate and longtime friend, Jerry “EGM” Lundkvist. Alliance recently had renewed success with their previous roster, qualifying for the Frankfurt Major where they placed 9th overall. They seized 4th place at DreamLeague Season 4, went undefeated in their StarLadder i-League group stage, and topped their group in The Defense 5, leading to a third place at the LAN finals.
