Virtus.Pro is the first team to qualify for ESL One Genting 2017 after besting OG 2:3 in the Grand Finals. The CIS team will be on hand at The Genting Highlands resort area of Malaysia competing with seven other teams for the $250,000 prize pool January 6-8, 2017.

After a grueling and intense five game series, Virtus.Pro sealed their spot at ESL One Genting 2017. The CIS team overpowered OG in the deciding game and put an end to the European hopes of Malaysia.
Virtus.Pro started their run in the first round – facing qualified team Dx (featuring Miposhka and scandal). After sweeping through the CIS stack 2:0, they then took down Escape Gaming in another sweep and then bested Ad Finem 2:1 to advance to the finals.
OG entered the event in the second round of ESL One Genting 2017, tearing through Prodota Gaming 2:0 and then Fantastic Five in a second wipe out to advance to the finals.
VP took the first two games of the series and looked poised to take the third, but OG then struck back fast and furious to tie up the series with wins in the next two matches. In the end, VP were the victors after a 33 minute final match.
ESL One Genting
In July ESL One announced their return to SEA region with ESL One Genting to be held in The Genting Highlands resort area in Malayisa. The event is scheduled to take place January 6-8, 2017 with eight of the best teams competing for the $250,000 prize pool.
It was no surprise that the event being held in Malaysia would extend a warm invitation to one of the region’s most powerful and famous teams – Fnatic as the first invite. Digital Chaos landed the second invite while Wings rounds them out.
The remaining five teams will qualify to participate through various events.
The newest of the ESL tournament settings is located in The Genting Highlands resort area of Malaysia, about one hour from Kuala Lumpur.
The event will take place at the Arena of the Stars. AOS is a part of a resort that includes multiple hotels, amusement parks, casinos & nightclubs that also features a 6,000 person capacity amphitheater.

VP took their first title for the new season in BTS EU series #4 and followed up with qualifying for Summit 6, Dota Pit League season 5 and Boston Major.
