Only three teams left in the fight for the coveted Aegis of Champions, as the fifth day of The International 6 Main Event comes to an end. Wings Gaming have advanced to the Grand Finals, after a convincing 2:0 victory over defending champions, Evil Geniuses. Both remaining SEA teams, MVP and Fnatic, have been eliminated, while Digital Chaos took the world by surprise and secured a Top 3 placement. As if the spectacular series weren’t enough, the first Dota 2 hero that isn’t a port from DotA 1, Monkey King, was revealed at the end of the day.
The action picks up again tomorrow, on August 13th, at 10:30 PDT (19:30 CEST), with the Lower Bracket Finals NA showdown between EG and DC. Check out the latest TI6 standings, VIDEO highlights, updates, text commentary, pictures, and stats from all of the Day 5 games!

UPDATE (August 13th):
TI6 final standings, updates and highlights – HERE
In the fifth day of The International 6 Main Event, we said goodbye to the only two Southeast Asian teams still in contention.
The only directly invited team that managed to make it to Top 5, MVP.Phoenix, got routed by Fnatic, 2:0, and took a 5th-6th place overall and over $900,000 in prize earnings.
Yet to drop a single game on the main stage before going up against DC in the fifth round of the Lower Brackets, Fnatic’s winning streak came to a head in their next series. The Malaysians have placed 4th and are walking away with 7% of the total prize pool: $1.4 million.
On the back of superb individual plays and flawless team coordination, Digital Chaos managed to down Fnatic 2:0, to reach Top 3 and the Lower Bracket Finals, and secure a paycheck of at least $2.1 million.
“It’s not over yet, so I can’t really feel relieved. It doesn’t really feel like I’m playing at TI – because in all the previous years my teams were crumbling. Now we’re doing great and it’s hard to believe, considering where I was in March,” DC’s captain, MiSeRy, told Kaci Aitchison during a post-game interview.

With barely any seats left at the KeyArena for the Upper Bracket Final series, EG were unable to make use of their superior laning phases and early game advantage and dropped both games to young Chinese sensations, Wings Gaming.
Wings have earned the first spot in The International 6 Grand Finals, securing at least $3,386,926. They could be walking away with no less than $9 million, if they manage to come out on top in the Grand Finals.
Let’s not forget that Evil Geniuses got swiped 2:0 by CDEC, last year, in The International 5 Upper Bracket Finals, and managed to climb back from the Lower Brackets to defeat the Chinese, 3:1, in the Grand Finals. Wings might have an edge over last year’s CDEC. However, the two Chinese teams are not all that different, so EG might be able to reiterate their TI5 run. If they manage to get past a very strong Digital Chaos in the Lower Bracket Finals, that is.
A new Dota 2 hero was revealed, at the end of the day: Monkey King – an illusion hero that seemingly has the ability to disguise himself as a tree. Monkey King is the first Dota 2 hero that isn’t a port from DotA 1. The new hero will be released this fall, in The New Journey Update.

(969 comments)2 NA, 1 SEA and 1 Chinese team left. Amazing play from wings but EG has been in a similar position before. Gonna be interesting of its going to be an NA vs NA or NA vs SEA in the loser’s bracket finals.
