OG started out their day going head to head with Wings Gaming. As expected, the match-up was one of the most competitive series so far. After suffering a loss in the first game, Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi’s Huskar ended with a rampage and tied up the series, 1:1. The team then moved on to devour Escape Gaming, 2:0. A Zeus pick mid-lane for the first match made for a very one-sided victory. Both games were closed out within 30 minutes.

After splitting their series against OG, Wings Gaming set their sights on Alliance. Zhou “bLink” Yang was playing out of his mind – his Alchemist in the second game being too much for the Swedish team to handle. Their 3:1 record for the day has given them a third place spot in the group with two series left, against Na’Vi and LGD Gaming.

The Filipino team that almost didn’t make it to the event, TnC, continues to create one of the best storylines of the event. After a tumultuous start due to visa issues, high levels of anxiety and distraction no doubt impeding their ability to focus and train properly, and a last minute arrival – the team’s performance was expected to be marred with inconsistencies and difficulties.
Instead, they have won over the hearts of fans around the world, with some of the most spectacular matches in the TI6 groups. The team started out the day with a surprising upset over LGD Gaming. After 68 minutes of intense action with an army behind them – Alchemist, Terrorblade armed with Manta style and Shadow Demon’s illusion – they overpowered LGD.

El Clásico Alliance vs. Na’Vi was one of the most anticipated series of the day. Alliance seemed to have this one in the bag from the start. After taking their first victory, they went for a level one Roshan from the Radiant side, that would give them the Aegis in the first minute. After sweeping through the Ukrainian squad, 2:0, they struggled against Wings Gaming and ended their day with an even 2:2 record.

Na’Vi‘s loss to Alliance might have been a brutal one for fans to witness, but their 2:0 upset over LGD Gaming was one for the books. With LGD attacking their base, Na’Vi’s defense resulted in a team wipe on the Chinese team and a thrilling bounce back to take the game. Their second match was equally exciting, showcasing Dmitry “Ditya Ra” Minenkov’s one HP survival.

LGD Gaming and Escape Gaming both failed to find a single victory during the second day of the group stage. LGD’s troubles were more surprising, after a strong start yesterday. Escape Gaming were looking in prime shape to get through the Wild Card series, but have since fallen flat in the group stage.

Digital Chaos lost their first match against ViCi Gaming.Reborn, but they evened out the series, 1:1, with an overpowering Luna and Dragon Knight. Two quick stomps lasting 29 minutes and 16 minutes over Newbee propelled DC’s momentum even further. They then outplayed and overpowered Team Secret, 2:0. The second match of this series lasted for more than an hour and featured a spectacular 15k gold comeback. Their stellar run moved them into the second spot in their group.

Newbee‘s season of dominance seems to have come to a halt, as they started to struggle in the second day of the group stage. With Wong “ChuaN” Hock Chuan outfarming almost all of Fnatic and a terrifying Chen “Hao” Zhihao on Slark, they took a team wipe on Fnatic at minute 24 and continued to knock down the mid tower and melee barracks. They sealed the second victory in only 19 minutes. However, their momentum was quickly dashed. Newbee lost to both Digital Chaos and EHOME, 0:2.

ViCi Gaming.Reborn finally found their first win of the group stage, in their opening series against Digital Chaos. After splitting the series, they upset Team Liquid with a dominating performance and a clean 2:0 sweep – showing that despite instability in their participating roster, they were able to pull together and take control. They then split their series against MVP.Phoenix. VG.R are currently tied for the fifth place in Group B – a considerable rise in ranks from yesterday.

The Koreans continue to have mixed results and seem to lose most of their first games in the series before adapting to their opponent quickly to take over in the second ones. Putting up good performances and fights, MVP.Phoenix were unable to clinch a victory against EHOME, despite trying to adjust. Their last series of the day gave them another split series against ViCi Gaming.Reborn. They needed a full 50 minutes and a 30k gold lead in the first match in order to secure a victory, but were unable to surmount ViCi Gaming.Reborn’s Ursa in the second game.

Team Secret has slipped down the rungs of the ladder to the second to last spot in the groups. After a disappointing day, having fallen first to EHOME, 0:2, they were surprisingly overwhelmed by Fnatic in a clean 0:2 streak, and then continued their losing streak with Digital Chaos. Unable to find a single win during the second day of the Group Stage, Team Secret are in grave danger of being seeded into the undesirable Lower Brackets for the main event.

Fnatic continued their struggles in the second day of the TI6 Group Stage. Their ray of hope came in their second series, when they upset Team Secret and seized their first wins of the tournament. Their ambitions were quickly put to a stop in their last series against Team Liquid. Still sitting at the bottom of Group B, Fnatic have at least gained a few points on the board.

(64 comments)Perfect summary, let’s see if we get any dramatic upsets in day three. Really happy to see DC take down Secret, yesterday. I think even Secret fans rooted for DC in that series.

(969 comments)It was such nice weather where w33 rooms is. Hahaha. DC upper bracket, Secret lower bracket, really such nice weather 😀

(868 comments)Who would have thought EG would be leading the group. Good for them, some really solid performances especially by Sumail. And DC man, what a pleasant surprise. Guess Puppey threw so he could get those easy points:

(64 comments)Hahahaha, I missed that tweet from Puppey. Who are you rooting for in EG vs. Alliance up next?

(868 comments)The Swede boys all the way. And they did it! I am just surprised that EG are (or were before the Alliance match) playing so good. They are Ti champions, but I think no one expected them to be on top of the group. That ending of game 1 tho, typical Alliance

(64 comments)@bakala – They did it! At the expense of TnC (I feel sorry for them, they were pretty spectacular in the group stage and they fought valiantly, so maybe they deserved the chance of a tiebreaker), but they did it. As for EG: I don’t think they were firm favorites at winning TI, last year. Top 3, maybe, but people didn’t really expect them to go all the way, at least at the beginning. And that’s the case again this year. Maybe it’ll work in their favor again, who knows?! On paper, they’re all fantastic players, of course. But if there’s one thing that Secret taught us is that what’s great on paper doesn’t necessarily turn out to be great in the game. 😀

(868 comments)Yeah, TnC isTHE surprise of the tournament. I still think they are pleased with the result, I believe they hardly had any expectations considering the competition. They will still have a chance to prove them selves in the lower bracket. EG defending the title would be an even bigger surprise, but as you said, no one expected them to win last year either. And the Secret part – that’s been true for quite some time I believe. The only Secret version that lived up to its expectations (and maybe even surpassed them) is the one with w33 and Misery. Still, getting to the lower bracket doesn’t mean they are completely out, I wouldn’t write them off just yet
