UPDATE (August 13th):
TI6 final standings, updates and highlights – HERE
The last day of The International 6 Group Stage has concluded and the TI6 brackets have been set.
Three days, 112 matches, 101 heroes picked, 102 banned, 16 teams – one hell of a group stage.
The final day of the TI6 groups turned out to be a dazzling series of games with every match becoming a making or breaking point for teams.
In a tangled web of upsets, spoilers and close competitions, the results of rivals would seal fates and turn worlds upside down.
A trip to the Upper Brackets means a guaranteed top 12 placement, with a minimum prize of $297,795 and at least two appearances on the main stage.
A trip to the Lower Brackets, on the other hand, could mean sudden death and elimination from the very first day.

TI6 Groups standings (after day 3)
TI6 Groups standings: Group A
- OG 2:0 TnC Pro
- Wings Gaming 2:0 Na’Vi
- LGD Gaming 1:1 Evil Geniuses
- Alliance 1:1 Escape Gaming
- Evil Geniuses 0:2 Alliance
- TnC Pro 2:0 Escape Gaming
- Wings Gaming 2:0 LGD Gaming
- OG 2:0 Na’Vi
Group A: OG take the top seed
The first two teams in Group A to secure themselves spots were OG – the two time Valve Championship team and Evil Geniuses – the reigning TI5 championship team. Another not so shocking course of events given their history, characteristics and recent performances.
OG’s dominance over TnC gave the European team a safe placement in the group standings for the upper brackets. The Filipino team’s extraordinary performances and unexpected results in the group stage would be thwarted under the heavy hands of OG. Despite a clean sweep over Escape Gaming, it wouldn’t be enough to give them the upper hand.
EG’s first victory over LGD had locked in their top four placement – splitting the series with LGD didn’t have any adverse effect on them but didn’t help LGD as they fell 2:0 to Wings in the next series.
However, more surprising was EG’s 2:0 loss to Alliance . The Swedish teams’ fate and throne was hanging on by a thread. Forcing a wipe and triple buy back, Alliance would turn the game and claim the victory as viewers counted only 400 HP left on their throne. This turn of events would give Alliance the much coveted and hoped for place in the upper brackets.

Wings Gaming faltered in the first series, giving an incredible amount of hope and hype to Na’Vi as the Ukrainians swept through with a 2:0 victory – the first game ending in only 15 minutes. Wings were primed for bouncing back and shut out LGD. Following the results of TnC and Na’Vi closely, they found the fourth place spot.
Na’Vi‘s astounding first series was a rush of excitement, but their fate was sealed as Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi’s slark pounced on the Ukrainians and forced Na’Vi into a position of relying on the remaining group results for their fate. Unfortunately for Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and friends, their place was determined to be in the lower brackets.

Wild Card contenders, Escape Gaming had the seemingly insurmountable task of climbing the group ladder coming into the last day. After only claiming one victory leading into day 3, their prospects were looking grim. The split series with Alliance gave a glimmer of hope, quickly extinguished by their 2:0 loss to TnC, LGD’s win against EG and Na’Vi’s domination over Wings.
TI6 Groups standings: Group B

Group B: EHOME take the top seed

Wild Card winners – EHOME dominated their group and were the first team to secure a place in the upper brackets – not entirely surprising given previous indications of their potential and star studded roster. Their destiny was set at the end of the second day of groups, when they ended with a 9:1 record, dominating their rivals. Wiping through ViCi Gaming.Reborn and tying the series with Digital Chaos had only impact on the remaining teams and solidified a top seed.
Digital Chaos would slide into the second position under EHOME. After upsetting and overpowering Team Liquid in the first series 2:0, Digital Chaos continued to charge forward to take a match off the hands of EHOME. With a spectacular performance their victory had tied them up with EHOME for the first place spot, leaving the outcome hinging on their second match – a win for EHOME.
Newbee would be next in Group B to secure their place in the upper brackets after knocking Team Secret into the lower brackets and handing the European mix their ninth consecutive loss. Newbee’s struggles through the group stage was more than some expected. In the end they prevailed as their first match victory over MVP.Phoenix with an unkillable Huskar gave the them their spot.
MVP.Phoenix’s characteristic split series record would keep the Korean team uncertain about their fate until the very last match of the night hinging on Team Secret and Team Liquid’s series. Team Secret dug down deep to find unexpected 2:0 upset over Team Liquid. As the infamous always second place calvary couldn’t secure a win earlier against Digital Chaos, their defeat threw them into the bowels of hell, elimination series.
Team Secret’s losing streak and sub-par performances would leave them at the bottom of the barrel. Their last minute upset over Team Liquid fueled the place for MVP.Phoenix in the top, but did nothing to alleviate their pain. The once formidable enemy and giants of the international scene had dropped to low levels.
Team Liquid’s loss to Digital Chaos was surprising, but their defeat by Team Secret was devastating – being their nail in the coffin for the lower brackets. Not unfamiliar with rising through the ranks or coming from behind, the European team’s synergy and performances lacked the same fuel to get them there.

Meanwhile, Fnatic’s rumored internal strife and outward struggles gave way to a long and hard road, only made slightly better by a split series with MVP.Phoenix and defeat of ViCi Gaming.Reborn -a little too late. The Malaysian’s 30-min win over MVP in the second series played spolier to the Koreans placement, leaving it to the fate of the Liquid match. Their victory over ViCi Gaming.Reborn only served as a stepping stone out of last place.
ViCi Gaming.Reborn’s last few months of solid performances and top placements were crushed at the hands of the US embassy when their roster was thrust into turmoil and their lineup for the biggest Dota 2 event was inexperienced together. Struggling to claim victories and consistent results, the Chinese team dropped to the last place spot and have two days to find a way to rise through their ashes and become reborn to survive the elimination series.

(969 comments)Liquid show me the title of the lower bracket kings. Na’Vi vs Liquid can go either ways, any of the BO1 game can go either ways. Liquid and Tnc! Let’s do this!
