TI5 Qualifiers groups and schedule have been released.

  • ti5 results main event final day

UPDATE (August 9):

Evil Geniuses are your TI5 champions! Grand Finals VODS, summaries, pictures and highlights: here.

Each of the four regional TI5 Qualifiers (Americas, China, Europe, Southeast Asia) will feature 9 invited teams. In an utterly unprecedented move, four Open Qualifiers winners will join the invited teams in the main regional qualifiers.

Earlier this week, thousands of teams from across four regions competed in the regional TI5 Open Qualifiers. Yellow Submarine (Europe), Unknown (Americas), Team Invasion (SEA) and Wings Gaming (China) have emerged as the winners and have advanced into the main TI5 qualifiers. The four teams have now been seeded into their respective regions and will join the 36 invited teams.

TI5 Qualifiers Group Format

The 40 participating teams – 10 for each of the four major regions, were divided into groups.

  • Each region consists of two round robin groups of five teams.
  • The top two teams from each group will advance to a double elimination bracket.
  • The first place teams will start in the Upper Bracket.
  • The runners-up will start in the Lower Bracket.
  • The winner of each region will be invited to The International 5.
  • The four runners-up will compete against each other in a Wild Card series in Seattle for the final two TI5 spots.
  • TI5 Qualifiers Europe

The nine invited teams – Vega Squadron, Natus Vincere, Alliance, Power Rangers, Burden United, Ninjas in Pyjamas, London Conspiracy, 4 Anchors and Sea Captain, and HellRaisers – and the TI5 European Open Qualifiers winner, Yellow Submarine, have been divided into two groups.

    TI5 QUALIFIERS EUROPE GROUPS

    Group A past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • 4 Anchors & Sea Captain 4 : 1 Burden United ▶ 5 matches ▶▶ 80% winrate
    • 4 Anchors & Sea Captain 0 : 2 Alliance ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • 4 Anchors & Sea Captain 3 : 3 Power Rangers ▶ 6 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate
    • 4 Anchors & Sea Captain 1 : 4 Ninjas in Pyjamas ▶ 5 matches ▶▶ 20% winrate
    • Burden United 1 : 1 Alliance ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate
    • Burden United 1 : 1 Power Rangers ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate
    • Burden United 4 : 1 Ninjas in Pyjamas ▶ 5 matches ▶▶ 80% winrate
    • Alliance 11 : 3 Power Rangers ▶ 14 matches ▶▶ 79% winrate
    • Alliance 4 : 6 Ninjas in Pyjamas ▶ 10 matches ▶▶ 40% winrate
    • Power Rangers 10 : 11 Ninjas in Pyjamas ▶ 21 matches ▶▶ 48% winrate

The first group of the European TI5 Qualifiers seems to be a level playing field. However, based on their recent performances, Alliance and Ninjas in Pyjamas are considered to be Group A’s front runners.

    Group B past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • Natus Vincere vs. London Conspiracy ▶ 0 matches
    • Natus Vincere 5 : 5 HellRaisers ▶ 10 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate
    • Natus Vincere vs. Vega Squadron ▶ 0 matches
    • Natus Vincere vs. Yellow Submarine ▶ 0 matches
    • London Conspiracy 0 : 2 HellRaisers ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • London Conspiracy 0 : 2 Vega Squadron ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • London Conspiracy vs. Yellow Submarine ▶ 0 matches
    • HellRaisers 2 : 3 Vega Squadron ▶ 5 matches ▶ 40% winrate
    • HellRaisers vs. Yellow Submarine ▶ 0 matches
    • Vega Squadron 2 : 0 Yellow Submarine ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 100% winrate

London Conspiracy have no wins versus HellRaisers and Vega Squadron – the only two teams from their group they have faced in the past months. Natus Vincere have not faced three of the teams from Group B at all since the beginning of the year, while YeS has only played versus Vega Squadron twice and lost both times.

Natus Vincere and Vega Squadron seem to have the upper hand in the second group of the European TI5 Qualifiers.

    TI5 Qualifiers China

The nine invited teams – E-Home, Energy Pacemakers, Newbee.Young, TongFu.WangZhou, TongFu.Oldboys, HyperGloryTeam, CDEC Gaming, ViCi Gaming Potential, and TongFu, were joined by Open Qualifiers winners Wings Gaming.

    TI5 QUALIFIERS CHINA GROUPS

    Group A past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • E-Home 1 : 2 Energy Pacemakers ▶ 3 matches ▶▶ 33% winrate
    • E-Home 2 : 0 Newbee.Young ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 100% winrate
    • E-Home vs. TongFu.WangZhou ▶ 0 matches
    • E-Home 2 : 0 TongFu.Oldboys ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 100% winrate
    • Energy Pacemakers vs. Newbee.Young ▶ 0 matches
    • Energy Pacemakers vs. TongFu.WangZhou ▶ 0 matches
    • Energy Pacemakers 1 : 1 TongFu.Oldboys ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate
    • Newbee.Young 2 : 0 TongFu.WangZhou ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 100% winrate
    • Newbee.Young vs. TongFu.OldboysB ▶ 0 matches
    • TongFu.WangZhou vs. TongFu.Oldboys ▶ 0 matches

E-Home and Energy Pacemakers are widely regarded as the group’s favorites.

    Group B past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • CDEC 7 : 4 HyperGloryTeam ▶ 11 matches ▶▶ 63% winrate
    • CDEC 5 : 10 TongFu ▶ 15 matches ▶▶ 33% winrate
    • CDEC 2 : 2 ViCi Gaming Potential ▶ 4 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate
    • CDEC vs. Wings Gaming ▶ 0 matches
    • HyperGloryTeam 6 : 5 TongFu ▶ 11 matches ▶▶ 55% winrate
    • HyperGloryTeam 3 : 2 ViCi Gaming Potential ▶ 5 matches ▶▶ 60% winrate
    • HyperGloryTeam 1 : 0 Wings ▶ 1 match ▶▶ 100% winrate
    • TongFu 1 : 2 ViCi Gaming Potential ▶ 3 matches ▶▶ 33% winrate
    • TongFu vs. Wings ▶ 0 matches
    • ViCi Gaming Potential vs. Wings ▶ 0 matches

The second group of the Chinese TI5 Qualifiers seems to be more balanced than the first one. HyperGloryTeam, ViCi Gaming.Potential and TongFu are neck and neck in the race for a TI5 spot. Wings Gaming has only played one match versus HyperGloryTeam, since the beginning of 2015.

    TI5 Qualifiers Americas

Nine invited teams – Mousesports, Not Today, Wheel Wreck While Whistling, Void Boys, North American Rejects, Leviathan, Complexity Gaming, ROOT Gaming, Team E-Hug – and one team from the Open Qualifiers, Unknown, were divided into two groups.

    TI5 QUALIFIERS AMERICAS GROUPS

    Group A past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • Not Today 5 : 4 Wheel Wreck While Whistling ▶ 9 matches ▶▶ 55% winrate
    • Not Today 2 : 1 Void Boys ▶ 3 matches ▶▶ 66% winrate
    • Not Today 6 : 2 Leviathan ▶ 8 matches ▶▶ 75% winrate
    • Not Today 0 : 2 North American Rejects ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • Wheel Wreck While Whistling 7 : 2 Void Boys ▶ 9 matches ▶▶ 77% winrate
    • Wheel Wreck While Whistling 1 : 2 Leviathan ▶ 3 matches ▶▶ 33% winrate
    • Wheel Wreck While Whistling 0 : 2 North American Rejects ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • Void Boys 5 : 3 Leviathan ▶ 8 matches ▶▶ 63% winrate
    • Void Boys 0 : 1 North American Rejects ▶ 1 match ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • Leviathan vs. North American Rejects ▶ 0 matches

South and North American teams seeded into the first group have had shaky performances lately. However, Not Today, North American Rejects and Wheel Wreck While Whistling are expected to give the Americas TI5 Qualifiers group stage a fair shake.

    Group B past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • Root Gaming 0 : 2 Complexity ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • Root Gaming vs. E-Hug ▶ 0 matches
    • Root Gaming 1 : 0 Mousesports ▶ 1 game ▶▶ 100% winrate
    • Root Gaming vs. Unknown ▶ 0 matches
    • Complexity 9 : 4 E-Hug ▶ 13 matches ▶▶ 70% winrate
    • Complexity 0 : 6 Mousesports ▶ 6 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • Complexity vs. Unknown ▶ 0 matches
    • E-Hug vs. Mousesports ▶ 0 matches
    • E-Hug vs. Unknown ▶ 0 matches
    • Mousesports vs. Unknown ▶ 0 matches

Unknown was formed for the TI5 Open Qualifiers, so they have not played as a team versus any other opponents in their group. Mousesports records include Team Tinker games.

In the second group of the TI5 Americas Qualifiers, Mousesports seem to hold all the aces.

    TI5 Qualifiers SEA

The nine invited teams – Rave, 5Eva, Mineski, G-Guard, TnC Gaming, MVP.Hot6ix, MVP.Phoenix, Can’t Say Wips, Signature.Trust, were joined by Open Qualifiers winners Invasion eSports.

    TI5 QUALIFIERS SEA GROUPS

    Group A past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • 5Eva 1 : 4 Mineski ▶ 5 matches ▶▶ 20% winrate
    • 5Eva 0 : 2 G-Guard ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • 5Eva 0 : 2 MVP.Hot6ix ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • 5Eva 0 : 1 TnC ▶ 1 match ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • Mineski 1 : 4 G-Guard ▶ 5 matches ▶▶ 20% winrate
    • Mineski 1 : 2 MVP.Hot6ix ▶ 3 matches ▶▶ 33% winrate
    • Mineski vs. TnC ▶ 0 matches
    • G-Guard vs. MVP.Hot6ix ▶ 0 matches
    • G-Guard 1 : 0 TnC ▶ 1 match ▶▶ 100% winrate
    • MVP.Hot6ix 0 : 2 TnC ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate

5eva has won only one game versus opponents in their TI5 qualifier group, since January 2015.

Based on their recent performances, Mineski and MVP.Hot6ix are considered to be Group A’s front runners.

    Group B past encounters

    Matches since January 2015:

    • MVP.Phoenix 6 : 3 Signature.Trust ▶ 9 matches ▶▶ 67% winrate
    • MVP.Phoenix 3 : 1 Can’t Say Wips ▶ 4 matches ▶▶ 75% winrate
    • MVP.Phoenix 4 : 9 Rave ▶ 13 matches ▶▶ 30% winrate
    • MVP.Phoenix 2 : 0 Team Invasion ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 100% winrate
    • Signature.Trust 3 : 3 Can’t Say Wips ▶ 6 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate
    • Signature.Trust 0 : 2 Rave ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 0% winrate
    • Signature.Trust 5 : 2 Invasion ▶ 7 matches ▶▶ 71% winrate
    • Can’t Say Wips 1 : 2 Rave ▶ 3 matches ▶▶ 33% winrate
    • Can’t Say Wips 4 : 5 Invasion ▶ 9 matches ▶▶ 44% winrate
    • Rave 1 : 1 Invasion ▶ 2 matches ▶▶ 50% winrate

Rave is the clear favorite for Group B of the SEA TI5 Qualifiers. MVP.Phoenix might be able to make the cut.
