The first edition of the TI5 Open Qualifiers is now officially over. 2294 teams from across three regions have joined the race. Team Invasion (SEA), Yellow Submarine (Europe), Unknown (Americas), and Wings Gaming (China) have advanced to the main TI5 Regional Qualifiers.

TI5 Open Qualifiers Southeast Asian region
TI5 Open Qualifiers SEA semifinals
Four teams from four different countries faced off in the TI5 SEA Open Qualifiers.
Insidiousidol from Singapore – which had previously defeated one of the most notable contenders in the Southeast Asian region, Rex Regum Qeon from Indonesia, was the first team to be eliminated in the semifinals, by team Execration from the Philippines.
In the second TI5 Open Qualifiers SEA semifinal, Invasion and AcesVN pushed into a deciding third game, after having gone through a 65-minute game already. The Malaysian team Invasion was able to defeat their Vietnamese opponents, 2:1, and advance into the TI5 Open Qualifiers Grand Finals.
TI5 Open Qualifiers SEA Grand Finals
The Grand Finals went on well into early morning, at almost 03:00 am local time for the Malaysian and Philippine teams. Invasion was able to secure the first game of the series. After a disconnect in the second game during a big fight, the match was reloaded and the finals were resumed. Invasion took the game, sweeping Execration, 2:0, and qualifying for the main TI5 regional qualifiers.
Invasion e-Sports
Invasion e-Sports is a Malaysian multigaming organization. Their Dota 2 squad placed 5th-6th in this year’s Major All Stars tournament.

TI5 SEA Qualifiers
Team Invasion will join the other nine teams from the region that were invited to the main regional qualifiers.
TI5 Open Qualifiers European region
TI5 EU Open Qualifiers continued with more additional surprises and upsets from some of the more notable teams.
- Basically Unknown were faced with some unfortunate circumstances, as one of their players, Ionuț “Ar1sE” Turtoi, had connection issues. Without being able to use a stand-in during the tournament series, the team opted to play 4 vs. 5 in their first round, Round of 64, against 1G1D and lost the match resulting in an early elimination.
- In Round of 16 HeHe United were eliminated by Doverie.
- NextKz made it to Round of 16, where they were eliminated by Vladimir “PGG” Anosov’s team, Elysium.
- Balkan Bears were knocked out of the competition in Round of 16 by Jerry “EGM” Lundkvist’s team Turtle, after a very balanced game.
- The TI5 Open Qualifiers quarterfinals brought an end to Turtle’s journey, as they were knocked out by Scaryfacezzz.
- In the quarterfinals, Elysium lost to ATN D2 and Dota All Stars (sQreen’s Squad) were eliminated by Yellow Submarine.
TI5 Open Qualifiers European Semifinals
In the TI5 Open Qualifiers European semifinals, Scaryfacezzz dropped to PUB Playerss, 0:2. There was a disconnect towards the end of the game in a big fight on Radiant base forcing the game to be paused for a considerable time. Upon resuming the game, PUB went on to defeat Scaryfacezzz and advance to the Grand Finals.
In the second European semifinal, Yellow Submarine took the first game and the Polish team ATN D2 answered with a stomp to win the second game and force a deciding third game. Yellow Submarine took ATN D2 in a quick 24-minute game and advanced to the TI5 Open Qualifiers European Grand Finals.

PUB Playerss destroyed Yellow Submarine in the first game of the series, 32:8, in just under 27 minutes. YeS wasn’t ready to surrender so easily and responded with a surprising win in the second game, forcing a deciding third game. YeS showed their dominance and grabbed the last win in just over 20 minutes and secured themselves the TI5 main qualifiers spot.

Yellow Submarine is a Russian team that has had a rather strong presence in the Tier 2 scene. The team placed first in the Paysafecard Go4Dota2 Europe Cup #4, and second in the Paysafecard Go4Dota2 Europe Cup #3 and GIGABYTE Challenge #13.

TI5 Open Qualifiers Americas region
- Stay Free (TralF and Yawar’s team) fell to Unknown in Round of 32.
- paiN Gaming dropped to TongFu.NA in Round of 64.
- Isurus Gaming was eliminated by DuSt in Round of 32.
- eGX defeated TongFu.NA in Round of 32.
- GP bested Boreal in Round of 16.
TI5 Open Qualifiers Americas Semifinals
Recently disqualified from the main regional qualifiers due to last minute roster changes, Summer’s Rift lost to Unknown, 2:1, in the TI5 Open Qualifiers Americas semifinals. Unknown is allegedly formed of three former members of Union Gaming – which reformed recently after they were disqualified from the Canada Cup Season 4 for cheating.
In the second TI5 Open Qualifiers Americas semifinal, GP lost to eGx, 0:2.
eGamersX is a fairly new Chilean team. The squad has been playing for a while as Kawaii Desu Néé before eGX picked them up.
TI5 Open Qualifiers Americas Grand Finals
Unknown took the first game, while eGx managed a game two win to push into the deciding third game. Unknown ended victorious, after besting eGx, 2-1.
TI5 Americas Qualifiers
Unknown will join the other nine teams that have been invited to the TI5 Americas Qualifiers.
TI5 Open Qualifiers China region
The Chinese Open Qualifiers were hosted by the Perfect World platform. With up to 1024 open slots available, Immortal Magneto, Dream Gaming, DK1, Team Braveheart, Newbee.miracle and Wings Gaming were amongst the most notable contenders.
Wings Gaming
Wings Gaming knocked down Newbee Miracle in the Grand Finals, and will join the other nine Chinese teams invited to the main regional qualifiers.
