Team NP top of their game in Americas Boston Major qualifier

Jacky “Eternal Envy” Mao’s new team – Team NP came out strong and on top in the Americas Boston Major qualifier playoffs. Team NP, compLexity Gaming, FDL and Infamous have advanced to the Americas qualifier playoffs after two days of group stage matches. The four teams will lock horns for one of two spots available in the Boston Major. The first match is set to take place on Saturday, October 29th, at 20:00 CEST between Team NP and Infamous.

The Euro-invasion was thwarted by the Americans as they defended and held their grounds.

Jacky “Eternal Envy” Mao and company were one of the favorites heading into the event. Stacked with veterans, talent and fan support Team NP stepped up to the plate and delivered. They dropped only one game – to Prodota Gaming, in a match that epitomized EE’s high risk/his reward playstyle.

Their performance and top result granted them a spot in the playoffs and the selection of their opponents moving forward. The new team chose to challenge the Peruvian’s. Infamous placed third in the group, tied with FDL with a 4:3 record.

With only two strikes against them, compLexity Gaming settled into second place. Showcasing their new roster, the team launched into top rated performances. They face FDL in the playoffs.

Team Freedom, Elements Pro Gaming, Prodota Gaming and Kingao+4 didn’t make the cut and have ended their hopes for an appearance at the Boston Major.

Boston Major Qualifiers format

The Boston Major Qualifiers format has been adjusted compared to previous Majors. This season, teams will be pitted against each other in a single group, instead of divided into two groups. Another significant change, teams will face each other in a best-of-one round robin. The top four teams in the group stage will advance to a best-of-three GSL-style playoffs bracket. Two teams per region will qualify for the Boston Major. Thus, there will be two phases to the Boston Major Qualifiers format: group stage and playoffs.

Wang Theatre

The Boston Major will be held between December 7th-11th, at the Wang Theater, in Boston, USA, with a set prize-pool of $3,000,000. Sixteen teams will compete in the main event hosted by PGL and Valve. Wings Gaming, Digital Chaos, Evil Geniuses, Newbee, EHOME, Execration, OG and MVP.Phoenix have already been directly invited to the event.
