SL iLeague StarSeries s2 day 3: Secret, Fnatic, Na’Vi left standing

SL iLeague StarSeries s2 day 3 sent three home and left three remaining. Digital Chaos, Evil Geniuses and F.R.I.E.N.D.S have been eliminated. Team Secret have advanced into the Grand Finals leaving Na’Vi and Fnatic to battle it out in the lower brackets. The quest for the grand finals resumes with the lower bracket finals starting at 22:00 CEST, followed by the best-of-five Grand Finals.

SL iLeague StarSeries s2 day 3 was an eventful day for six of the original eight teams. Three of them bid farewell to their last title hopes before TI6.

Evil Geniuses and Digital Chaos have much to chew on – including a not so successful Oracle mid for Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan – as they head into the final preparations and practice.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S, on the other hand, walked away with $22,500 and a side of pride with their very commendable fourth place result. The ex-Virtus Pro roster had caused major waves in the brackets after they upset and bested both compLexity and Evil Geniuses 2:1.

After sweeping through Na’Vi 2:0 – Team Secret advanced into the Grand Finals – leaving Na’Vi and Fnatic to rematch for the third time in just a week. Last week Na’Vi had bested Fnatic 2:1 in the lower brackets Round 2 of The Summit 5 and again only days ago in the quarterfinals of SL iLeague StarStar s2 in the opening match.

No doubt Fnatic will be blood thirsty – looking to exact their revenge in the rematch. The series is expected to be intense with the Ukrainians in prime form and good spirits and Fnatic armed with an on site analyst and diverse strategies.

Rounding out the night, the best-of-five Grand Finals will grant one TI6 bound team a crown – and a target – to wear walking into the greatest Dota 2 event of the year.

Teams will play Double Elimination brackets. Matches will be Best-of-3, while the contenders for the title who will face each other in the Grand Final will play out five maps.
