Shanghai Major standings after the last four teams competed in the upper bracket preliminaries! The second day of the Shanghai Major began with the Upper Brackets series between Team Secret and OG, followed by Evil Genisues and Fnatic. Team Secret and Evil Geniuses have advanced in the Upper Brackets, while OG and Fnatic have dropped to the Lower Brackets, where they face a best-of-one elimination round. Four teams will be eliminated later today in the brutal first round of the Lower Brackets. EHOME will face Alliance at 10:00 CET, in the first match-up of the elimination series.
The second day of the main event had a much smoother start and less of the overall problematic issues that had been overshadowing the tournament for the last week.
Team Secret were able to best OG in their best-of-three upper bracket series. In the moment of excitement Team Secret called “GG” in the final seconds as they were seizing their win. The early call triggered the game to end and register OG as the winners in error. The mistake cost the team their reserve time in their next match.
Apologises to OG, Valve & PW for calling GG early in the heat of the moment. We have been given a level 3 draft penalty for our next match.

EG wiped through Fnatic with a clean 2:0 series to continue to progress along the upper path on their journey to another championship title.
The Shanghai Major standings: Upper Brackets
Four of the eight teams in the Upper Brackets have competed in the second day of the Shanghai Major. Team Secret, OG, Evil Geniuses and Fnatic went head to head in the efforts to be the first teams to advance further into the Upper Brackets and secure a top 6 finish at the second Dota 2 Major.
Team Secret vs. OG
The first series of the day was relatively a quick one, lasting only 27 minutes. While the laning phase was fairly even, OG started to pull ahead in the early game and maintained control over the pace and the outcome after. Execution, patience and control were the key factors for OG being able to hold fast and win.
Absolutely tremendous team discipline by @OGDota2 over the final 8 min of that match. Just perfect objective #Dota2. #ShanghaiMajor

The second game was heavily one sided in favor of Team Secret. With an outstanding performance by Aliwi “w33” Omar on OD and strong support all around, Team Secret was able to shut down the mobility and strength of OG in 35 minutes, forcing a deciding third game.
The last game of the series featured another outstanding performance by w33 on OD, to just dominate the game and to pace. Fantastic map awareness and quick reflexes allowed Jacky “Eternal Envy” Mao to ruin a smoke attempt by OG. Despite a perfect performance by Amer “Miracle-“ al-Barqawi on TerrorBlade, the team was not able to do much to seize an opening or gain the advantage.
Shanghai Major standings: Team Secret 2:1 OG. Team Secret advance in the Upper Brackets, while OG drop to the best-of-one elimination series in the Lower Brackets.
Evil Geniuses vs. Fnatic
The series between the TI5 championship team and the Malaysian based squad started with a fantastic game for Evil Geniuses as they easily took the victory. Starting from first blood, the NA team was able to dominate the game and set the overall pace and outcome. Zheng “Miduan” Yeik Nai was shut down on mid-lane and Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung’s Leshrac was not enough to overcome the spectacular and perfect performances by Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora and Artour “Arteezy” Babaev as well as the dominant performance by Clinton “Fear” Loomis.
In another display of pure dominance, EG completely wiped out Fnatic during the second game of the series. The entire team just performed incredible with UNiVeRsE on Void and Fear on Mirana as the main highlights and MVP’s of the game.
Shanghai Major standings: Evil Geniuses 2:0 Fnatic. Winner advance in the Upper Brackets, while Loser drop to the Lower Brackets to compete in the best-of-one elimination series.
