Shanghai Major Qualifiers America: Team Archon prevail over Digital Chaos

Team Archon is the first team in the Americas region to qualify for the Shanghai Major in China, after besting Digital Chaos in the Shanghai Major Qualifiers America Upper Brackets. The squad will join OG, Team Secret, Evil Geniuses, EHOME, ViCi Gaming, CDEC, Virtus.Pro, Alliance and now Fnatic (the winners of the SEA Qualifiers), LGD (the winners of the China Qualifiers), and Team Liquid (the winners of the Europe Qualifiers) for the main event set to take place between March 2-6, at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China.

One more team from Europe and two teams from each of the other regions will qualify to compete for the $3 million prize-pool.

The Shanghai Major Qualifiers America have ended their third day with Team Archon becoming the first team from the region to qualify for the main event set to take place between March 2-6, at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China.

After an incredibly intense and long series, Team Archon were able to prevail over Digital Chaos, 2:1. The deciding game of the series took almost one hour and was a complete roller-coaster of leads, emotions and intensity. An epic base race closed out the game, with Team Archon closing the deal first. Jio “Jeyo” Madayag had a fantastic game on Lone Druid, going 6:0:10.

Digital Chaos had shut out Shazam in the first round, 2:0, while Team Archon had triumphed over compLexity, 2:1.

Shazam and compLexity will meet in the Lower Brackets for another opportunity to head to China, before going head to head with Digital Chaos for the final spot.

The matches will resume on January 10th, at 23:30 CET, and are expected to be intense, as the teams continue their quest within the second stage of the Shanghai Major Qualifiers America – the double elimination brackets.

Shanghai Major Qualifiers America format

• The ten teams have been divided into two Round Robin groups of five.
• Top two teams will advance to a double elimination bracket.
• First place team will start in the Upper Brackets.
• Runner-up team will start in the Lower Brackets.
• Playoffs are double elimination brackets.
• The first and second place teams from the Shanghai Major America Qualifiers will advance to the main event in Shanghai, China.

The Shanghai Major Qualifiers America series have begun at 19:00 CET, on Thursday, January 7th, and will end on January 10th.
