Shanghai Major China Qualifiers standings: Fresh blood vs. Veterans – CDEC.A, IG.V, Newbee, LGD advance

The Shanghai Major China Qualifiers standings for day 2 are in. CDEC.A, Invictus Gaming.Vitality, Newbee and LGD Gaming have advanced into the playoffs. The double elimination brackets will kick off tomorrow January 9th, at 07:30 CET.

Shanghai Major China Qualifiers standings are in after a long and eventful day has concluded for the day 2 group stage. The four regional teams that will advance have emerged.

CDEC.A, Invictus Gaming.Vitality, Newbee and LGD Gaming are all moving forward to the playoffs in hopes to qualify for the main event.

The matches resume on January 9th, at 07:30 CET, and are expected to be intense as the teams continue their quest towards the second stage of the qualifiers – the double elimination brackets.

Shanghai Major China Qualifiers standings day 2 Group A

LGD Gaming came out ahead with continued impressive performances that were expected of them. Taking the series against IG.Vitality and splitting the series against FanTuan was enough for the veterans to advance.

iG.Vitality have really created a stir with their recent performances and results. The new youth squad has already started to turn heads as they defeated the primary squad in the organization, IG, in a 2:0 sweep.

Invictus Gaming continue to struggle and today’s loss against the youth team and their split series against TongFu was not enough to give them new hope.

CDEC.A are looking to follow in the footsteps of their mentor team, CDEC. Taking a page from their success book, the youth squad have displayed incredible talent and skill. Today’s win against Newbee.Y and the split series with Newbee gave them the chance to advance in the playoffs to make their own Cinderella dream.

Newbee have new life breathed into them with the addition of Wong “ChuaN” Hock Chuan to the lineup. Today’s games were enough to move them ahead finally and give them another opportunity to prove they are still champions. The team split their series against Wings and CDEC.A and defeated their youth squad 2:0.

Shanghai Major China Qualifiers format

  • The ten teams have been divided into two Round Robin groups of five.
  • Top two teams will advance to a double elimination bracket.
  • First place team will start in the Upper Brackets.
  • Runner-up team will start in the Lower Brackets.
  • Playoffs are double elimination brackets
  • The first and second place teams from the Shanghai Major China Qualifiers will advance to the main event in Shanghai, China.

All matches are best-of-three

  • 07:30 CET – LGD vs Newbee
  • 07:30 CET – CDEC.A vs Invictus Gaming.Vitality
  • 11:00 CET – winner (match 1 ) vs winner (match 2)

The Shanghai Major China Qualifiers will be broadcast in English as part of the coverage provided by Beyond the Summit in their “insanity hub”.

  • The Beyond the Summit Twitch channel will provide coverage of select group stage matches from all four regions.

The Shanghai Major China Qualifiers series will begin at 03:00 CET, on Thursday, January 7th, and end on January 10th.
