The Shanghai Major brackets have been drawn. The teams, managers, talent and crew gathered together only moments after the final Shanghai Major Group D series to draw the brackets for the main event. With all four groups having been played out and a two-day break before the main event, teams have been given their first opponents. The Shanghai Major main event begins on March 2nd, at 03:00 CET, with the Upper Brackets best-of-three series between Alliance and Team Liquid.

Teams and all Dota 2 enthusiasts were anxious to receive the final reveal of the Shanghai Major brackets. Gathering together for the drawings after the last series of Group D, the teams were given their first opponents for the main event. The Shanghai Major will be on break for two days, with the main event starting on March 2nd, at 03:00 CET.
Twelve teams – Alliance, Team Liquid, MVP.Phoenix, LGD Gaming, EHOME, Team Archon, Team Spirit, compLexity Gaming, Virtus.Pro, ViCi Gaming, CDEC, and Newbee – will play in the first day of the main event.
The second day will start out with the four remaining teams – OG, Team Secret, Fnatic, and Evil Geniuses – before heading further into the Lower Bracket rounds.
The Shanghai Major main event
The Shanghai Major main event will take place between March 2nd-6th, at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, in Shanghai, China. Viewers and visitors are in for dawn to dusk action. The Grand Finals will take place on Sunday, March 6th.

Format
Sixteen teams will play a double-elimination bracket.
Eight teams (top two teams of each of the four groups) will start the main event in the Upper Bracket. Eight teams (bottom two teams of each of the four groups) will start the main event in the Lower Bracket.
All the Upper Bracket match-ups will be best-of-three series.
The first two rounds of the Lower Bracket matches will be best-of-one elimination series. The following rounds will be best-of-three elimination series.
The Shanghai Dota Major Grand Finals will be best-of-five series, with no winners’ advantage.
