Na’Vi has had a tumultuous year with significant and frequent roster changes, producing subpar results. A team that was once the archetype of success has fallen into disarray during the last year. Going into 2016, the team has high hopes to rekindle that “Born to Win” rally cry and once again achieve greatness.
As one of the first steps, the team has undergone another roster change. In a revolving door cycle that seems to surround the Ukrainian organization as of late, the news is not much different nor outstanding. The key to news is on the hopes and belief that have been pinned on the new player Viktor “GeneRaL” Nigrini.
Natus Vincere has announced the measures taken to revitalize their team.
New blood replenishes the Born to Win ranks! A young yet a very experienced player, Viktor Nigrini, better known in eSports community under the nickname Ukraine GeneRaL, will try himself in Ukraine Natus Vincere’s Dota 2 roster. He will make an attempt to settle into the team, and might be able to secure the position in the end.
GeneRaL has gained his experience and his reputation over the last year, when he started playing for Duza Gaming in 2015. He had stints in Team Empire and ScaryFaceZ as well as Elements Pro Gaming. Although he has been predominantly a midlane player, he has begun the shift to fill the shoes of the offlane position for Na’Vi.
The team is already creating hype and welcoming the player to their ranks. In a recent interview published by Na’Vi, the promising player exudes much confidence in his changes.
I will be playing in the hard-lane. For the last three days, I’ve been crushing all pubs playing this role, so our opponents will have to go through some difficult times.
The first match of the renewed roster is scheduled for the January 31st against Vega Squadron, in the Dota Pit League Season 4.
Na’Vi latest roster changes
Na’Vi has had a difficult year in 2015, with many significant changes. On October 16, the organization announced the dissolution of their Dota 2 team after less than adequate performances as of late. The dissolution of the team signified the end of an era between the organization and Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and Alexander “XBOCT” Dashkevich, an unprecedented professional relationship in the Dota 2 scene, that lasted for five years.
Four days later, it was revealed that Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev would remain with the organization. The new Na’Vi team has been built around Dendi and Sonneiko, who recruited the other players themselves.
On December 8th, the new roster was revealed to include Dmitry “Ax.Mo” Morozov and the return of Ivan “Artstyle” Antonov.
Na’Vi was invited to the Shanghai Regional Qualifiers. The team failed to make it out of the group stage, taking third position in the group with two wins, one draw and one loss in their matches.
January 17th Ax.Mo parted ways with the team after a disappointing 9th place finish at StarLadder iLeague StarSeries. The separation occurred amidst rumors of leaking scrims and open displays of conflict .
