Nanyang Championships season 2 day 4 has concluded. Digital Chaos, ViCi Gaming.Reborn and CDEC.Youth have all been eliminated. Newbee, Wings and LGD are left standing. The action resumes with the Lower Bracket finals between Newbee and LGD Gaming – a series to determine the grand finalists and a battle of TI6 direct invites.
Nanyang Championships season 2 day 4 was all about the elimination series. Three teams – Digital Chaos, ViCi Gaming.Reborn and CDEC.Youth were sent packing home after all being swept 2:0 in fairly quick matches across the board.
The remaining teams are all representatives of China in the upcoming International 6 – LGD Gaming, Newbee and Wings Gaming.
Wings Gaming is already set for the Grand Finals. LGD Gaming and Newbee will go head to head for the second spot.

Digital Chaos vs LGD Gaming – Lower Bracket elimination series
The first game was completely one sided when LGD Gaming were able to secure both Timbersaw for Lu “Maybe” Yao and slark for Sun “Agressif” Zheng – both having perfect games. The second game wasn’t much better for Digital Chaos as they picked up a Pudge pick for Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen which turned out awful.
ViCi Gaming.Reborn vs CDEC.Youth – Lower Bracket elimination series
CDEC.Youth upset ViCi Gaming.Reborn with a 2:0 sweep, both matches lasting less than 30 minutes. Going with a Venomancer pick in the first game and a Huskar pick in the second, the youth squad easily overpowered the veteran TI6 bound team.
LGD Gaming vs CDEC.Youth – Lower Bracket elimination series
On the back of Lu “Maybe” Yao’s storm spirit for both game, LGD Gaming swept through CDEC.Youth and progressed to the lower bracket finals to face Newbee.
Nanyang Championships season 2
The second season of Nanyang Championships took fans by surprise when it was quietly announced to be scheduled July 6th-10th and held in China instead of Singapore, where the first season was hosted. Event details were slow to trickle in and be communicated.
Team Secret was the first directly invited team to announce its participation to defend their title.
NanYang Dota 2 Championships Season 2 (NYC) is the second Dota 2 tournament organized by KeyTV (ex-LGDTV). Eight of the world’s best Dota 2 teams were expected compete in Shanghai for the $200,000 base prize pool.

On July 1, it was it was announced that Fnatic would be withdrawing from the event due to issues with Djardel Jicko B. “DJ” Mampusti’s visa. As a result, NYC s2 organizers had replaced the Malaysian team with LGD Gaming.
The following day organizers reported that Evil Geniuses notified Nanyang Championships of their decision to withdraw due to issues obtaining a visa for Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan.
One day later, it would be Team Secret that would pull out of Nanyang Championships s2, citing ongoing issues with the event.
The organizers then decided to replace both Team Secret and Evil Geniuses with two Chinese teams that would qualify for the event.
Nanyang Championships season 2 prize pool
The base prize pool for this tournament was $200,000. An additional 25% of all tickets sales was added to the total prize pool.
The final prize pool is $200,971.
- 1st place: $100,000 + 12% ticket sales
- 2nd place: $50,000 + 6% ticket sales
- 3rd place: $25,000 + 3% ticket sales
- 4th place: $10,000 + 2% ticket sales – CDEC.Youth
- 5-6th place: $7,500 + 1% ticket sales –Digital Chaos/ViCi Gaming.Reborn
- 7-8th place: –Team Empire/WG.Unity

(868 comments)It turned out to be a pretty good tournament considering that it’s mostly CN Dota. DC drafting pudge, Maybe with sick invoker plays, Wings with the unorthodox picks, builds, everything. Looking forward to CN teams on TI even more now
