As MPGL Season 7 has already completed the 11 SEA qualifiers, the remaining Chinese slot for the LAN finals has been filled through a qualifier, with Energy Pacemaker becoming the Chinese region representative. It was also revealed that Team Malaysia would be withdrawing from the competition because of the conflicting dates with Red Bull Battle Grounds Finals and have been replaced by Underminer.
Team MY
MPGL Lan finals will take place May 9-10 in Malaysia, however Team Malaysia will be participating in Red Bull Battle Grounds playoffs in Santa Monica California May 5-7, competing for a $75,000 base prize pool during the main event held at the Warfield theatre in San Francisco, California, on May 10.
Underminer
As Team Malaysia has pulled out of the competition, Underminer, one of the rising SEA teams, secured the replacement spot through a single elimination online tournament recently held. 35 teams competed to replace Team MY including Underminer and Invasion. Underminer defeated Invasion 2-0 in the finals.

Chinese spot
Originally it was reported that the Chinese slot for the LAN finals would be filled with a direct invite and was still unannounced. However, four teams participated in the MPGL Chinese qualifier; Energy Pacemaker, Hyper Glory Team, Dream Gaming and DK. The qualifier was a best of three single elimination format with Energy Pacemaker defeating HGT in the finals to secure the spot. The upset was a surprise for many as HGT had been winning official matches against teams such as LGD and E-Home, and most notably had eliminated Invictus Gaming in the Summit 3 Chinese Qualifiers.
EP is a gaming organization based in Hong Kong. They originally started with a League of Legends team but added a Dota squad.
