After days of intense competition and fierce battles at the Manila Major, OG advance to the Grand Finals.
The European team is looking to take their second Dota 2 Major championship title. The Frankfurt Major champions have continued to take impressive placements in major and premier events since Germany. Their most recent achievement was less than a month ago, when they secured their second DreamLeague Championship title.
Being coached by Sébastien “7ckingMad” Debs, the European mix has shown even more growth and improvement during the Manila Major series. Their drafting, patience and execution have been spectacular.
Newbee will drop to the lower bracket finals and face the winner of Team Liquid -LGD Gaming.
The Manila Major results: Upper Brackets
Four of the sixteen teams remain. OG and Newbee went head to head in the upper bracket finals in efforts to be the first teams to advance to the Grand Finals and secure a top two placement at the Manila Major.
OG vs.Newbee
In the first game of the series, Amer “Miracle-“ al-Barqawi drew first blood and experienced his first death in the entire playoffs run shortly after. Newbee took control and the lead early on, shutting down Miracle-‘s Invoker. Around 17 minutes in, a team wipe on OG would further secure the Chinese team lead. The match continued to be fairly one sided in favor of Newbee and in 28 minutes, they cliamed the first game victory on the heels of a very cleanly executed game.

The second game of the series saw OG draft a Naga Siren pick. The match was really close with really intense exchanges and engagements and the leads switching back and forth. Around minute 18 OG were able to equalize the score after taking a huge team fight and taking out four of Newbee’s heroes and then continue to further their advantage and eventually the win to tie up the series 1:1.

In the last game of the series, Newbee went with a greedy lineup with an Alchemist as the last pick. OG took first blood in the first minute of the game. 11 minutes in, OG took a considerable lead with a four man wipe. Newbee held on as long as possible but OG were able to just overpower them and take the game and the series.
