ViCi Gaming got Digital Chaos eliminated, 2:1, in the second round of the Manila Major Lower Brackets. Digital Chaos are the seventh team to be knocked out of contention in the main event. The North American based team will walk away with $45,000. ViCi Gaming.Reborn will face the winner of LGD Gaming – Team Empire in the third round of the Lower Brackets, on June 10th, at 11:20 CEST.
With the Morphling pick in the first match of the series, 93 heroes have been picked during the event, demonstrating the balance and versatility in this current patch.
Digital Chaos stunned the world when they came out with their Major LAN debut swinging hard in the group stage. With some spectacular games and plays, already showing a cohesive lineup and incredible potential, they took second place in their group and an upper bracket seed. They dropped into the lower brackets after falling to Newbee, 2:1, during the first round of the upper brackets.
On the contrary, ViCi Gaming.Reborn disappointed with their groupstage performances and results – failing to take a single win and falling into dead last in their group. They were seeded into the brutal best-of-one elimination series where they then upset and overpowered the TI5 championship team Evil Geniuses.
It took three games to determine a winner in this series. Both teams have flashes of brilliance and great synergy. ViCi Gaming.Reborn edged the newly formed team out with their experience, capitalizing on some of the miscommunication or coordination immediately.
The StarLadder i-League Invitational championship team saw Digital Chaos eliminated and claimed their spot in the lower brackets round 3.
The Manila Major standings: ViCi Gaming.Reborn vs. Digital Chaos
In the first game of the series, ViCi Gaming made a surprising Morphling pick. After Yang “Zyf” Pu on the Morph took first blood, Digital Chaos took the lead. Slowly and steadily, they took objectives and continued to further their lead to seize the first game in only 28 minutes. The decisive victory gave the North American based squad the one-game lead.
In the second match, Digital Chaos went with a Timbersaw that didn’t end up working out as well as they hoped in the end. The ViCi Gaming.Reborn Bristleback-Io combo seemed to run over the tree-cutting hero. ViCi Gaming.Reborn did a fantastic job to shut him down immediately and the Chinese team completely shellacked DC. Zyf and Zhou “Yang” Haiyang both had perfect games on their heroes – Gyrcopter 8:0:9 and Bristle Back 7:0:8 respectively. In only 30 minutes, they rolled over DC with a 15:2 score. Their win tied up the series 1:1 and forced a third game.
In the last game of the series, Digital Chaos gave Omar “w33” Aliwi his signature Invoker in attempt to seal their victory. ViCi Gaming.Reborn took the first blood. In an amazing series of back and forth engagements and leads, 32 minutes into the game, ViCi Gaming.Reborn took another favorable fight that would then lead them to a very decisive victory shortly after.
Manila Major standings: ViCi Gaming.Reborn 2:1 Digital Chaos. ViCi Gaming.Reborn advance in the Lower Brackets after seeing Digital Chaos eliminated.
