The Kiev Major NA qualifiers are already undergoing changes, one day after the teams were announced and two days before the open qualifiers begin. Both Team Red and WanteD will no longer be participating in the regionals – leaving only three spots filled for North America. Much like South America – which has two teams assigned – the empty places will be filled by teams advancing from the open qualifiers. As of today, only 59 teams are registered to compete in the Kiev Major NA open qualifiers. ,/h5>

Only one day after the announcement of teams invited to participate in the Kiev Major regional qualifiers, North America is already facing instability and changes.
WanteD has been announced as disbanding while Team Red had a change in their lineup after the rosters had been locked.
It is unclear at this time what roster changes have taken place for Team Red at the moment – however the team was formed consisting of Monib “Monib” Baray, Andrew “Jenkins” Jenkins and Alan “RyuUboruZ” Andersen.
WanteD was formed by Peter “PPD” Dager as a mix of players from various regions. Bringing on board Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin, Kim “QO” Seon-Yeob, Bill “boris / monk” Oliver, and Jio “Jeyo” Madayag the squad had been representing the America’s region in qualifiers and events.
As both teams have now been dropped from the Kiev Major NA qualifiers – only three teams are left standing – Team NP, Team Onyx and Team Freedom.
Only 59 teams are currently registered to participate in the Kiev Major NA open qualifiers.
Despite the lower amount of teams within the region that meet criteria, higher number of teams that will advance to the regional qualifiers via the open and a significant lack of interest in the Open Qualifiers – teams from other regions are not permitted to region jump to take advantage of a higher probability to land a spot.
Participants will be held to the 3 out of 5 player rule as criteria to register for a region. Teams physically residing in a location will be permitted to participate in that region.
Many had speculated changes would occur following the influx of European teams playing in the Americas qualifiers, initiated by Prodota Gaming.
For the Kiev Open Qualifiers, regions are defined as follows:
NA – United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
SA – Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Sixty teams will participate in the Kiev Major Regional Qualifiers:
Each of the six regional qualifiers (North America, South America, China, Europe, CIS and Southeast Asia) will feature invited teams. In addition, Open Qualifiers will be held for all regions. The winners from the six Open Qualifiers will earn the remaining spots of each of the Regional Qualifiers.
Registration is now open.
Each region consists of two round robin groups of five teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to a double elimination bracket.
Only the winner from Kiev Major NA open qualifiers will receive Kiev Major invites.
The Kiev Major invites for the North Americas Qualifiers (March 10-13):
