The International prize pool is already more than halfway to the 15 million dollar mark in just 10 days, with 90 days to go. The $7,000,000 stretch goal was reached three days ago. However, the Immortal Treasure II reward was unlocked only in theory, with no sign of the immortal items yet.
Valve tries the community’s patience, announcing that the Immortal Treasure II items are “not quite ready yet”:
We’re still working on building the second set of Immortal items, but they’re not quite ready yet. We know the most important aspect of these Immortals is their quality level, so we are also planning on spending some extra time polishing them rather than releasing them quickly.
However, numerous members of the community have already lost their patience and blame Valve for implementing the TI5 Compendium ahead of time, without enough preparation and proper groundwork.
In the attempt to simmer down the situation and buy more time for the Immortal Treasure II release, Valve promises to add new challenges to the TI5 Compendium, by the end of the week:
You’ll still see an update to the Compendium this week though. Included in that update you’ll find new challenges, the Item Recycling system, and new ways to earn Compendium Points.
UPDATE MAY 27th: Immortal Treasure II leaks
On May 27th, a very likely final list of the second batch of immortals leaked on Reddit. User ha11ak managed to put together a list:
by creating an html file about 2 weeks ago that basically checks for the images from the immortal slider. If the website wasn’t updated, the link of the img would be broken. If on the other hand the images were uploaded, I would be able to see when I refreshed the page. The html page I created had only about 10 hero names, so that’s why I wasn’t able to find all of them directly.
It looks like the heroes that will get an item in the immortal treasure II update will be: Disruptor, Shadow Fiend, Leshrac, Sven, Tinker, Antimage, and Faceless Void. There is no leak of a golden item just yet and the rumor mill is leaning towards a ward Antimage getting a golden extremely rare immortal.
The community expressed their disappointment faced with these images, but we believe they are just an earlier version from work in progress models so here’s to hoping!

TI5 Compendium Immortal Treasure II delayed
However sympathetic the community may be, the Immortal Treasure II items should have been readily available once unlocked. In the past, delays were somewhat understandable, since not even Valve themselves had anticipated that stretch goals would have been so easily reached.
This year, nevertheless, with three Immortal Treasures announced, instead of only one, and an increase in compendium sales that has outpaced the TI4 compendium purchases since the very first day, Valve should have come more prepared.
The Dota 2 community spent over 30 million dollars in 10 days, to get the TI5 prize pool to over $7,600,000. Therefore, the community is entitled to criticize Valve for lack of preparation.
With a little over 2 million dollars to go until the Immortal Treasure III is unlocked, one can only wonder why Valve did not put together all three Immortal Treasures in advance, knowing from previous experiences that the stretch goals would be met.
